[E3'2010] Square Enix & Feelplus Announce Mindjack [6/15]

Square Enix has unveiled a new action online shooter titled Mindjack, which is being developed by acclaimed Japanese developer feelplus. Throughout the game, players assume the role of a Mind Hacker hacking into and controlling the minds of enemies to turn the tide of battle.

There is a twist in that if you don’t hack into the enemies mind, then they will hack into yours so you need to be fast, whether playing in the offline single player campaign or online against others. Mindjack will release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and will be released in October this year.

I'm rather surprised by the very western-kind of approach I see here. It's unrecognisable compared to the kind of things I expect to see from a developer comprising of staff from other companies that have commonly made JRPGs and action-RPGs.

While the concept itself sounds intriguing, I have to wonder how this is going to be executed, and how well it will be. I'm willing to be surprised though if this game turns out to be rather good.

Oh, and I see they're calling it "Mindjack" and not "Mindhack".
