I came across this FF fan fiction community like 5 years ago, don't know if its even around still but I figured I would try to see if anyone knew.
It had a world map with set locations and NPC's you could use, so the universe was already loosely there, you just kinda made your own characters and adventures. Original characters of your own creation were strongly encouraged, and you weren't really supposed to use characters from existing games unless they were already "crossover" characters.
Each character you created got their own profile. You put which characters are in each chapter and you could link other characters someone else created in your story for collaboration purposes.
The stories were reviewed after being written and then given a rating (1-5 chocobos)
