Triple Triad is a game in the FFF RPG that has been gaining some interest recently, in part because of the ability to upload custom cards right into the RPG. Creating your own cards is tricky at first but fairly easy once you get the hang of it, and having a personalized set of cards to use on other players is a very cool feeling. With that in mind, I convinced Darkblade to let us start a contest to custom TT cards. Have fun with this… :P

Basic Objective: Create the best set of Triple Triad cards (“set” being defined as any group of 3-5 TT cards), with both blue and red backgrounds (making a total of 6-10 images), and post them here.

Voting: After the end of the time limit, or posting period, the RPG mods will vote on the 4 best TT sets within the next 2 days. After that, the top 5 finalists will be put in a public vote, and a 3 day poll will be taken.

Time Limit: After 20 days or when RPG Inferno Version Gold is released, whichever comes first. The contest will last no less than 10 days no matter what the case. Therefore, the entire contest will last no more than 25 days.

Prize: The winning set will be uploaded onto FFF and a custom shop will be created selling these cards in the area of the winner’s choosing. The winner will also will get a free set of the cards and the “Finishing Blow” attack type. Really now, what more could you want? :P

Guidelines:
-All TT cards must have dimensions of 100x127 pixels.
-All TT cards MUST have a “blue card” and “red card” entry. When you are finished with a card, if you cannot tell if it is red or blue, try using another image.
-No animated TT images, inappropriate images, ect. This is fairly obvious stuff… :P

Example of a “flawless” TT card entry:

That’s it for rules, but here’s some recommendations you might want to follow:
-Use a program that handles transparent images, such as Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop. It will help a LOT when you are trying to post images on fixed backgrounds.
-If the red and blue cards are not exactly the same except for the background, you are going to have a hard time winning.
-Don’t feel limited to Final Fantasy themes here. If you create a good set of cards, whether it be from Castlevania or Star Trek, you will almost certainly get into the final 5.
-Practice makes perfect. Feel free to send one of the RPG mods your TT card ideas or post it in one of the RPG boards, we will be happy to give advice.
-Do not expect a card with AAAA stats to win. Cards follow loose but common point guidelines based on their level. No card should have over 28-29 points, 27 is an average setup for level 10 boss cards.
-Level 1 cards have just as good of a chance of winning as level 10 cards- don’t feel like you need to make all super-powered cards just to have a chance at winning. Some of my favorite cards in all of TT (Caterchepillar being an example) really aren’t that high of a level.

Resources (aka MUST SEE sites):

To see examples of good cards, look at the preloaded cards already in the RPG. A complete look at the preloaded set can be found here: http://ttadvance.ca/viewFF8.php

This is a great opportunity to give more life to the RPG Realm and give players something different to do. Triple Triad is a good game that can be played by both RPG Experts and newbies alike.
