Hard Edge- Soft Form

Hey everybody.
First off, I'd like to say I'm not a serious FF fan. I never really got into the series. I've played 1 and 7 but never completed either. The closest I've gotten is beating KH1 & 2.
But I recently found out about FF XII coming to the states in October, and there was a lot of hype about the battle with Gilgamesh because beating him causes him to drop the "Legendary Sword", the most powerful sword in the Dragon Quest series (which happens to be my favorite RPG). This along with the new battle system has caused me to consider playing this game all the way through.
My question is this: What other Dragon Warrior/ Dragon Quest easter eggs/ cameos/ tie-ins/ etc., if any, have appeared in the FF series, and in what games?
