Doomtrain card problems

I thought i was just about to finish the queen of cards quest in this game, but i seem to be stuck in a rut...Having done all the things needed to get the guy in the timber pub to play the doomtrain card, and after (eventually) winning it from him, i lost it to the queen of cards, as required (she went from balamb to galbadia when i did so if thats important), but now i simply cannot get her son to play the doomtrain card (i must have played him about 50 times). Should i just carry on or have i done something wrong?
 
I would have thought that the Queen of Cards still had it o_O You might just need to be patient if not.... *shrugs* I can't remember the last time I tried to get all the cards, it pissed me off epically & I still never got Kiros and Irvines cards :wacky:

Did you get the phoenix card from the guy in Esthar for losing doomtrain?
 
yeah i havent got the phoenix card yet but am in the process of trying, a pain though since they dont have the open rule and hes one of those players who flicks through his cards reeeaaaallllly slowly. Im pretty sure that when you lose a quest related rare card to the queen her son in dollet has it for you tow in back though.
 
Ah Im not sure I can't remember o_O Try them both :monster:

Not having the open rule gets on my nerves -_-
 
will do. By the way, if this gets unbelievably boring and i cant win the doomtrain or phoenix card, can i get them both from the cc group on the ragnarok on disc 4, or would i not be able to get phoenix?
 
Um, id of thought you could get them from the CC Group but Im not 100% on that, altho the Queen of Cards is at the crash site on Disk 4 so she might have them....?
 
My answer to this, just play the guy you got it from again, maybe you can get another one?

or have you tried using the card ability?

sometimes when i need a specific card, this ability seems to come in handy...
 
You cannot get any GF or Player cards using the card ability, so don't waste your time with that. However, with who would have it, I never bothered with the Queen of Cards Quest, so I'm not sure. However, I did the CC Quest and I don't think they'd have it at all.
I'll go check my Strategy Guide though and see if it has an answer for ya.
Note in Guidebook said:
You can achieve any of the five cards you are required to give to the Card Queen from her little brother in Dollet. He is the child living with the artist one screen down from the pub. As soon as you give the Card Queen any of the requested cards, they are immediately transferred to the boy's inventory. Any other cards won from the Card Queen must be won back from her in normal fashion.
