Do you believe that maybe we get forced into believing in any Religion

I think actually most people in this day and age are nurtured into certain religions. Go see how many catholic people are from mexico. Catholicism didn't originate in Mexico, but the country is predominately catholic.
America is predominately either christian or catholic.
I didn't even have to look up the statistics, because having been born and raised here, and seeing so much of it in the media...I already know. That's the case for most people too...

IMO, most people are conformists, and they do what their friends or family do. I for one will never join or limit myself to one religion or just one point of view.

The priest walked along the lines of us and when he came to the end of the line, he picked on one person and asked why they weren't interested. He said that he would go, but he has a football tournament that weekend. The Priest said, and I quote exactly:

"You shouldn't be playing football - you should be praying to God like every normal person in the world!"

If you'd gone to the right people and were able to convince them that he'd actually said that you could probably have gotten that person into a lot of trouble. He basically called a large proportion of the people in the world abnormal.

I'm shure that you know that all those great Religions once were just one great religion with the same Believes so why should now were they split tell to my kids o you know you should believe in the one or the other.
They will learn at school whant they and then they will understand and then they should think what they want to do with there knowlege about religion.

Second as an Catholic i think the only think they want from me is every single month to pay nothing more.Sorry.but thats true and if i dont pay one time the lawyer wil give you a letter nd you've to pay the double prize.Wow great Religion i got.

My parents brought me up believeing in god and heaven and hell and sin and all that. Christianity was forced upon me when I was a small child and knew no better, now that I actually can see things as they are, it angers me that they tried pressing their beliefs onto me.

My parents NEVER took me to church or talk about anything that deals with god..because my whole family is ATHEIST... soo i dont think we are forced into believing in God

I think my dad only went to church (christian church) when I was a kid because he was lonely. The people there were genuinely nice to us. But then again...it was a small town, and people minded their own business, so I never felt pressured.

From the time I was 4 years old up until I was 12, my parents were in a huge custody battle over me. Not my brother; just me.

During the divorce, my mom up and chose to be a Jehova's Witness (which I now realize was for the sole purpose of looking good in court). I remember she would drag me and my brother to church on Sundays. I specifically remember my brother kicking and screaming outside of the church because he didn't want to go in. She litterally picked him up and started pulling him so he would let go of the door handle, just to make him go inside. o_O
Seeing my brother throw such a piss fit about it made me not want to go either...

My mom only had custody of us on the weekends...meaning...Kingdom Hall church every sunday. And on Saturdays, we would all gather with the church members in a van and we would go out and spend all day circling through neighborhoods handing out pamplets. I remember that...most of the houses we went to...the people were usually really pissed off that we were bothering them with our church shananagins.

Alltogether...I found the whole experience to be pointless, invasive to others, and annoying.

I'm actually the type of person who gets very aggitated when churchgoers (not just jehovas witnesses) come to my door and advertise religion to me. It's supposed to be a personal choice. People who advertise themselves like that...they act like the rest of the world doesn't know that religion is there...IMO, they're only making themselves look desperate.

That part I can relate to.
They used to come up to in this one apartment building that we were renting up north in Bakersfield. They sold us cookie dough though.
And yes, it does come off as desperate to me too.

I've been Catholic my whole life so I can't really say I was forced into this religion as I totally accept it. That is probably the only other choice along with choosing your own religion that is not totally dependent upon other people forcing you to a religion. When you're born into one, like me, it's either you accept it or you don't.

Although certain aspects of different religions appeal to me, Catholicism's hold over me is just too great. I love the morals as it actually provides me with a way to guide my life.

Catholisism...that brings up another point...
This mumbo jumbo about priests molesting young boys...
The media makes it out like it's just priests doing it, but in reality...there are tons of perverts out there who molest kids...it's just a stunt to aim bad publicity on the catholic church. People eat gossip right up...it's so annoying.

Lulu, I'm deleting your post...that's unecissary. =\

Well, people obviously need scapegoats to vent feelings out that they normally have themselves. It gives them security....when in fact it is totally wrong, well in my opinion it is.
I guess the only reason they single out priests is because it is hypocritical of them, i.e. they're preaching the Good Word and whatnot and here's what they do....

but still, this stuff should go first to the council or whatever tribunal before deciding to leak it out to the public.
