Could it have been adrenaline? I have heard that a kid pumped with adrenaline actually saved somebody by lifting up a car or something...it might have been an exaggerated story of what actually happened, but it does a bunch of strange things.

Lets just say that you wouldn't like to meet them in a dark alley, a lit alley or any kind of public place if you get on the wrong side of them ;)

Personally I believe in science. Of course there are times where I want to believe in God, but I don't know.
So either I believe in science or I don't know. Maybe if I spent more time on the subject I would truly know what I believed... <.<

Ahh, I see. Unless I know more about this, I can stick by my earlier post about your self belief.

However, as I've said before, I do not wish to contradict the belieifs of others, I am merely questioning in an informative manner.
 
They're the kind of guys that go around with sawn off shotguns on their person, and regularly get in fights and leave people stabbed or shot :(

So its not good for me :(

Then still, I ask this: could it not have been your own, inner strength that helped you from that situation? You believe it was God that helped you, but don't you think there's another answer?

Again: I'm not forcing MY opinion on anyone.
 
There is no way my adrenaline could have caused someone to interfere with that or some of the other actions to prevent it from getting worse than it did...

Lets put it this way - Someone as anti-life as me wouldn't have any secret desires, strengths or abilities to prevent myself from dieing in situations I almost have done...

Some force was at work... Fate? God? Invisible Camels? I don't know... I choose to believe it was God...

There are many people who do believe in god, while others don't. Both sides constantaly argue that this is true and this is false. For example, when Charles Darwing published his book, The Origin of Species, he presented his Theory of Evolution. The Catholic Church banned the book because it contradicted with the teachings of the Bible. Ok, here is the interesting part, if, let's say that everything in the Bible is true. Adam and Eve were the first two human beings in a planet that god created in 7 days, but were banned from paradise because they were naughty. Adam and Eve had children ( I forgot the number), now, where did we all come from? Inbreeding between siblings. I prefer the theory of evolution.

There are many things that can be proven otherwise about the bible, but no matter how many times we do, there will always be a god. I mean, throughout history, there has always been a higher being, let be a king, emperor, or whatever. There will always be a god. Now, you are probably thinking that their will be a point in which we won't believe in god anymore. Ok, let's say that you got stranded in the middle of nowhere, who do you turn to? At first you will say, I will first think of a way out or something, but once you are stranded for a long period of time, specially if you are injured, who do you turn to? You turn to god, and hell, you start praying. Without a god, there is nothing you can hold on to (except, of course, you may think of a loved one, but in which case, you only do in a point where you are near death).

On a completely random note, I prefer to believe in Science more than god as an explanation of everything, although some sort of god exists.
 
If you were stranded on an island, it's only logical that you can only conclude that there's no one to turn to. Especially if you're by yourself. If you can't sense God, for what reason do you turn to him as you would turn to nothing or empty air? All you can do is work with what you have, and what you can do. And if you can't, you will die. It is that simple. Prayer alone will neither get you off of the island or help you survive.

I'm usually one to question these things, I'm surprised I never noticed it. In other words, we are alive by incest. Ewww.

I think that it is 100% wrong to ban the Theory of Evolution. This was made through tons of research from Darwin, through experimentation and examination. For the church to ban something that contradicts them ... don't you think maybe they do not like people challenging their beliefs? As if they think that there is only one explanation, God?

You said "there will always be a god". Do you yourself believe in God? I don't mean this in a bad way, but I didn't like the way you said that. You believe there is a God, a higher being. This is opinion, because the fact can never be proven. You said it like it was fact, whereas that is not true. Everything to do with God and religion is subject to opinion, yours is that God exists, mines is that he does not. Sorry, but I hate it when people say it like there is no other explanation and dis-regards all other views. Not trying to fall out, I'm just saying ;)

Someone religious might pray to God, I on the other hand, and Athiest, would think hard. I would use my common sense and think: can I get shelter? What can I salvage? Can I eat/drink? How do I call for help? I wouldn't ask God for help, because he cannot help me, because he does not exist (in my view).

I can hold on to anything and I do not believe in God. I love my family and friends, they love me back. I value my education and have everything going for me in my life that I could possibly wish for. As I stated before, God is not the only explanation to existence, neither is the Big Bang. We will never know, unless God shows up and talks to us all.

This thought just occured to me: maybe people who need a God have one. More of a guardian angel, so to speak. Those who need help, those who need confort and protection, will be saved by their guardian angel (whether physical or metaphysical is another debate).



This is another part of the debate, whether this deserves another thread is up to the mods.

In the poll, there is the option "I hate Religion". I voted for this, not only because I disbelieve in God. My main view today is concerning the Jehovah's Witness. Blood transfusions go against their religion and therefore, they do not accept the operation (unless they go against their religion). A mother would quite literally watch her child die because of her belief in her religion. Isn't this morally wrong? Do they not see what they do?

Another point, after reading up on this, is their development of eschatology (the belief in the end of the world, to be put simply). This is taken directly from Wikipedia:

I don't know. one one hand they is something that is related to god. But on the other something bad might of happened where people have asked for something and hasn't came ture.
 
The Sephiroth Gene, don't worry, no hard feelings dude :lol: I didn't mean it to sound fact based, I meant in general that you'll find some 'higher being.' (Like a king, queen...etc.) I personally, do not believe in god (Even though it probably seemed like I did :lol: ) I always come to the question of; If there is a god then why is there so much hate, poverty, suffering, famin...etc in the world? Surely god being all 'loving and caring' would not like to see any people he/she/it has 'supposedly' created to be suffering in some way. I prefer to put my faith in the people around me, such as family and friends, as they can help me through a situation when I need it, where as a prayer does not.
When I was younger *This is heard to say* My Great Nan died, she was the closest person to me in the entire family. After she had gone, I prayed with all my strength for her to come back. Now if God existed, surely he/she/it would want me to be happy and therefore bring my Great Nan back into my life again?
