Different Battle System?

I've heard that this FF has a different battle system than the others. In this one, you walk up to the beast and immeaditaly fight them, instead of walking around and getting a cut scene into a battle like the others. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

i own and yes it is. enemy just pop up. no cut scene, no random battles, just you and the monster. the only bad thing is there is a bar at the bottom and u gotta w8 till that fills to attack.

Yes, this is true. If you have ever played the game Everquest II, it is sort of like that. It looks much like a regular MMORPG, in which you can walk around fighting creatures. =D
