Did Squall change too fast?

It's been a while since I played it but I remember Squall as being one dimensional throughout the whole game. Sulky emo kid with a weapon.

Actually, that's a scary thought, thank god it's fantasy.

Mmmm yeah I thought that Squall's change of heart took place a little too rapidly. I recall that during the Balamb/Galbadia garden mission,

he was almost too frustrated to go rescue her from the ledge of the garden. Immediately afterwards, the battle with Edea takes place, Rinoa becomes comotose, and he suddenly has an inexplicable affection for her.

It was quite annoying as to how he was like "Omg, I hate j00" then "I love you, rinoa!"

It was so mushy and I do agree it was one of the corniest and kinda worst points in the game, although I love this game.

That's due to the fact that they're different styles of danger.

The first included Rinoa being in immediate danger, with everyone harping on Squall to save her. It was annoying to him, just like all the attempts to try to get him to like her.

Seeing her comatose in the third disc caused Squall to be able to see her in a different context. Her presence wasn't being constantly shoved in his face, and that is when he realizes that he actually... maybe... kinda misses it.

I agree with Esprinz, plus they're young these sort of things happen He was always at the edge, this sort pushed him over and finally made the change.

*shrugs* Not really, Squall’s just an introverted character who hid his feelings from the rest of the world, including his close friends. His personality did change, but not as if someone flipped a switch or in this case, the changing of a disc...

I thought his love for Rinoa developed gradually over the course of the game, again, not sudden. He does finally show his true felling for her when she becomes comatose, but I would expect nothing less given his feelings for her and the situation.
