Do you believe in fate? Is your life laid out for you? There is a theory called Determinism, which basically says we have the illusion of free will. For example if you say "I'm thirsty...oh I fancy Coke". It's not you choosing Coke, it's your body telling you you want Coke, be it for the sugars etc. What are your opinions on Fate?

If fate was how everything was meant to be, why would we be fated to come up with the theory of fate?

Surely those who decide what all of our fates are would hide away the fact that everything we do is already laid out for us so we don't discover the truth?

Finny ftw =]

I'd -NEVER- agree to the belief that life is layed out for us. No one is an INDIVIDUAL, because we all follow The Master Plan. *sings other Oasis songs* ... anyway ...

Has anyone ever watched "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter"? When
Paul dies
, Cate's mum and dad come to stay to
console everyone
. Her mum says that it's all part of God's master plan and Cate replies with something along the lines of "What about my plans? What about what *I* want, huh? We had
the rest of our lives to look forward to
."

This pretty much sums up what I have to say - basically, that I don't like the fact that someone/thing has decided how my life will turn out. Surely it can't even be possible! Every single choice that we make influences the future, so how can it be pre-set for us?

Hmm, in a way I kinda believe in fate, but I believe we have choices we make on how to get there and that is what influence our future. Is my life laid out for me? No, I don't think so. However, I still have many years to lay it out, myself. I decide what my future will be, not fate. How will fate know what my choices will be...? It won't. It's all up to me.
