I thought I'd kick-start my return to FFF by introducing the first chapter of a story I've literally just started to write
I hope you like it, I've been planning it for a while and I accept all criticism, compliments and suggestions.
Chapter One: Cabin trip
Demons are now simply dismissed as myths, legends and religious symbolism. But they do exist, though maybe not in the way many people believe. Many demons cannot survive in the human world however there is one way for demons to do so. They must bind themselves to the soul of a human and try as they might to forcibly take the soul of a human, they can only share the soul and therefore take physical form if they agree to a Demon “contract”. Of course, it would be foolish to believe that a contract only benefits that of the demon. By agreeing to the conditions set within the contract, the human participant is granted a lifespan which rivals that of an immortal, demonic powers such as the type of magic their “Pact Demon” owns and lastly, an ally which can become stronger than an army and becomes more powerful as the pact human does: The Demon itself.
Not all Demons are good though, some wish to wreak havoc, rain down destruction and bring the world to its knees. This is why Demon Binding is a heavily controlled “business”, so to speak. A Demon in the human world cannot die as they would normally, so long as the link between Pact Human and Pact Demon remains, the Demon will reincarnate as many times as it needs to, though they will be extremely weakened after doing so. In order to maintain the balance of good and evil in the human world, contract “breakers” were created, a type of contractor which can sever the link between others and force the Pact Demon to return to the Demon World.
This is the story of one such Breaker.

“Why the hell have you dragged me all the way out here, Lexie?” A young, seventeen year old boy demanded of his best friend. His tall, five foot eleven body was wrapped in a large, brilliant white overcoat; hardly any of his face could be seen as he protected himself from the harsh, winter winds. His piercing green eyes glared ahead of him, drilling a hole into the back of the girls head despite a large tuft of his messy brown hair covering his eyes. Underneath the coat, or at least what could be seen, were his large baggy pants, boots and the bottom of what looked to be a very heavy, red jumper underneath
The girl turned playfully, swinging her long, blonde hair in the wind around her and stared tenderly at her best friend with her light gray eyes. She was at least half a foot smaller than the boy, even though they were the same age, and she was very slim, despite her ample cleavage. Unlike the boy, ‘Lexie’ was not at all affected by the cold, wearing a yellow, button-up cardigan over a tight-fitting white shirt and a simple, black and blue chequered pattern skirt. She was however wearing tall white tight-like socks and large, boot polish black boots. “Well, my dear friend Matvey.” She replied, her soft, dulcet tones with a tint of a Russian accent filling his ears perfectly, despite the heavy wind and snow fall. “Ever since I came home I’ve wanted to go and see my parent’s grave, it’s quite far away and impossible to get to by car so I thought we’d camp out for the night. And stop calling me Lexie in front of my Grandparents; you know what they’re like. Call me Aleksandra, or at the very least Alexis.”
“Then stop calling me Matvey!” He replied, honestly angry at the fact that she called him that. His voice, unlike hers, was quite harsh and heavy and also unlike Lexie was filled with what sounded like an English Mancunian accent. “My name is Matthew, not Matvey. I am English, not Russian.” She muttered something in Russian at his response and he instantly recognised it, having been her friend since she moved to England, Matthew had picked up quite a bit of Russian from her. “I am not a bastard, bitch.” He said the last word in Russian.
She smiled at him sarcastically and turned back around. Matthew removed his hood and sighed, taking the cold air into his lungs and cooling his head. “I have a question, if we’re camping then why haven’t we got a tent or something?” She laughed harshly at this as though mocking him, something which he did not enjoy. She pointed forwards and didn’t bother to reply, forcing Matthew to strain his eyes. He did so and sighed in relief as he saw a moderately sized cabin just ahead. “So that’s where we’re staying huh? Hey, are your Grandparents okay with us staying together, this far out, alone?”
She smirked at him before laughing, this time a lot more smoothly and pleasantly than she had done so previously. “Yes, they said it would be fine. They don’t exactly think you’re that type of man… If you get what I mean.” She laughed a bit more to herself, more so when she caught his confused gaze and before they knew it they had arrived at the front door to the cabin. Swiftly opening the front door, Matthew practically jumped in, diving onto the sofa and getting under the pre-prepared blanket draped over it.
Smirking at Matthew’s antics, Lexie quickly lit the electronic fire and placed her hands over it. Thankful that the cabin still had power she went over and sat on Matthew, hearing him groan painfully and causing her to smirk. “We’ll probably head back tomorrow so is it okay with you if I go on my own up to their graves now? I’m going to go and get some flowers from the store in the local town first so I probably won’t be back till late.”
“You sure you don’t want me to come?” Matthew asked her, his messy brown hair just barely covering his eyes. Despite his dishevelled appearance, he was deadly serious. He didn’t know exactly what happened to her parents but whatever it was traumatised her, causing her to flee to her Uncle Aton in England just so she would be away from it all. She smiled at him, thankful he was here but even so she shook her head at him. “Okay then, I’m not sure if it’ll work this far out, but I have my mobile on me so if you need me to come get you, just call me.”
~~~~~
Eight hours later
The snow was a lot heavier now and it was starting to get dark, checking his phone Matthew saw that it was almost ten o’clock in the night and despite being told by Alexis not to worry, he couldn’t help but feel as though something was wrong. She had taken her heavy coat so he knew she’d be fine in this cold snow but it was dark now and even Alexis might have trouble seeing properly. He threw the blanket off him and sat up, looking around the large interior of this old, manmade cabin.
Alexis’ great-grandfather had built this cabin himself during the First World War, fearing that Russia’s involvement would eventually lead it to be devastated so this became his family’s safe haven. It was spacious but very warm and cosy, making it feel as though it was his home and not just some old cabin he was technically borrowing for a night. His mobile buzzed and startled from the sudden noise he dropped it. Scrambling out of the blanket he frantically searched for it as the buzzing stopped and then started again.
Finally finding it, he grabbed it and answered it. Knowing that the only person likely to call him was Alexis, he spoke straight away not bothering to check if it was her or not. “Hey there, Lexie, where are you? It’s getting late and I don’t want to make dinner before you get here because it’ll get cold.”
“……. Matt……. Home….. Recep-… Bad…” He made out this part quite easily since he could hear the crackle of a bad reception himself and wasn’t surprised since there were hardly any cell towers for miles. “Come…. Me… Lost…. Damn my foot is… AHH!” And then suddenly it cut out, causing Matthew to jump up worriedly.
“Shit, I’d better go find her. Sounds like she’s fallen over and knowing her she’s probably hurt herself again.” Matthew muttered, grabbing his boots and gloves and throwing on his coat. He opened the cabin door and recoiled in horror as snow and wind pelted his face. “She’s gonna pay for this…” He mumbled as he closed the door behind him and stepped out into the icy wastes.
It wasn’t long before the cabin was entirely out of sight, the heavy snow could be thanked for that, however Matthew wasn’t worried. He had walked in nothing but a straight line so all he had to do to get back was turn around exactly where he stood and walk in the other direction. That never worked. After half an hour of walking, he had absolutely no idea where he was and he could see almost nothing apart from a small cluster of trees just ahead. Thinking it were wiser to get some cover from the snow, he made his way over to the tree line and suddenly realised it was more of a forest if anything.
“Ah, shit. Am I gonna freeze to death out here?” Matthew muttered to himself, he was genuinely worried, he was lost in the middle of the Russian wastes with only a small amount of heavy clothing on and he had forgotten his mobile as well. “Right, wasteland survival 101, get out of the wind and snow and set up camp for the night somehow.” As he said this, he moved further into the forest, glad that the trees protected him from the wind and snow. He lowered his hood and for the first time he heard something that wasn’t wind, however it didn’t make him feel any better than he was before.
Somewhere, surprisingly close, Matthew could hear a low rumbling growl and the sounds of an animal fighting, they didn’t sound exactly like an animal should though and Matthew could swear that he even heard talking at one point. Knowing it was dangerous, Matthew couldn’t help but try to find the location of where the noise was coming from and without even a hint of a warning, he suddenly stepped out of the forest and into a large, snow covered clearing. Despite being able to hear it, there was not the slightest trace of wind and even though it was snowing just a few moments ago, there was suddenly nothing but a light cover of snow across the plain.
“What the hell?” Matthew muttered as he stepped out into the field and looked around. It was eerily quiet and everything seemed deathly still. He continued across, drawn by some strange power the area seemed to have over him. He suddenly stopped, entirely against his will but he couldn’t figure out why. Without realizing, his mind had become foggy and every step he took felt like a labour in itself. His breathing became heavy and suddenly he couldn’t move any more.
He could sense that something or someone was nearby but just keeping himself standing was taking almost all of his strength, he could hardly raise his arms let alone his head to see around. Whatever it was that was coming towards him was just a few metres away but still, he couldn’t see a thing. Not only was his head far too heavy to raise, his vision was blurry, causing the few things he could see to be near impossible to see properly. “Control yourself!” A loud, booming voice shouted. Somehow, the power within that voice caused Matthew to snap out of his stupor and the shock of it caused him to jump back in fright, landing almost a full two metres from where he was stood.
He could finally move properly and finally for the first, terrifying time he could lay his eyes upon that which stopped him just a few moments ago. In front of him stood one of the most terrifying images he had ever seen. Almost three metres tall, a strange half-snake half-human like being stood. It’s piercing yellow eyes felt like they were stabbing into Matthew’s skull yet despite that, the top half of its body was that of a beautiful, naked woman, albeit with green-yellow tinted skin and yellow, flowing hair. It, or she if it could be called that, was strikingly beautiful however that still did not stop Matthew from almost vomiting. The bottom half, the snake-like half, terrified him to his very core. Matthew realised now that though it was three metres tall now, there was still so much left of her trailing behind, slithering and then curling into a comfortable like throne.
“W-what the fuck are you!?” Matthew shouted, practically screaming in fear at the atrocious monster in front of him. Despite glaring at him with those piercing yellow eyes, it felt as though she had only just noticed him. She opened her mouth, showing her sharpened, fang like teeth and smiled cruelly at the boy. Then, unexpectedly to Matthew, she laughed. And it wasn’t a laugh like how Matthew expected it to be, such a cruel smile yet her laugh sounded so beautiful.
“Human.” The woman spoke, loud and clearly, she spoke with a soft yet cruel tone. “You have come at the most opportune of times! Now that I have forced a contract, my power is beginning to return to its optimal level! Though you may be pitiful… My first victim will be you!” She screamed this last part, lunging forward with her fist, despite being almost a full two metres away, her arm seemed to extend and with a single lunging blow, managed to knock Matthew backwards and causing him to fly several metres backwards onto his back. Winded from the blow, he groaned in pain and looked towards the monster.
Something else caught his eyes however, not too far behind the strange monster stood a single, solitary figure. Someone he recognised. Aleksandra Belikov, his best friend. Something was different about her however, all she had on was her skirt and shirt and her eyes seemed completely lifeless “Lexie!” Matthew shouted; worried more about his best friend than he was himself. He pushed himself back to his feet and attempted to stay upright. It didn’t go well as he quickly fell back down to the floor. His ribs must have been broken from the blow, every movement he took caused pain to scream from his body and he felt like throwing up.
“Stay down.” A voice growled from just behind him. This one felt more humane and Matthew breathed a sigh of relief as he heard it. Someone had come to help. Turning his head slightly, he couldn’t help but gasp in shock. Behind him, breathing heavily was the biggest wolf he had ever seen. Stood at almost two metres tall with bright red fur was a being almost as monstrous as the one on the other side. “Don’t fear me, Matthew. Unlike that Kiyohime demon, I am an ally.”
“How… What are you?!” Matthew demanded. Even though he was just talking, the pain in his chest still caused him an unbearable amount of pain. The “wolf” looked down at him with strangely kind eyes and smiled, if that was what it could be called. The wolf suddenly growled and opened its mouth. Somehow Matthew knew what to do and ducked down, deeper into the snow. Suddenly all Matthew could feel was a burning heat from above him as a massive plume of fire burst from its mouth towards the “Kiyohime” demon. Matthew glanced towards the snake-like being and gasped. The blaze, as powerful as it had felt to Matthew, barely caused the monster to even flinch.
“Oh dear, she contracted?” The wolf muttered to itself. “I hate to do this but I’m going to have to kill that girl behind her…” These words were so blunt that Matthew was shocked.
“Kill her!? She’s my friend! You can’t just kill her! Isn’t there some way to get rid of this “contract” thing?!” Matthew demanded, scared for his best friend’s life. The wolf looked down on the boy and scowled, revealing his row of razor sharp teeth once more.
“There’s only one way to destroy the contract between a demon and their contractor,” The wolf walked around so he was facing him face-to-face. The snake demon had stopped for now, waiting for the wolf to make his move, a look of fear actually upon its face. “Is to become a contractor with a Breaker-Wolf, a demon like myself!”
