Default Style

How come none of the template changes from the other skins are present on the default style? Is there any particular reason or is it just laziness?
Because the other skins are pretty shit, the vB default skin is clearly superior but there's no shoutbox, no welcome box, not even any postbit modifications.

Because pretty much no ones uses it, so it would be pointless and not worth the effort...

I really wanna use the black themed one. =( I don't think it looks cheap at all, it's looks friggin' ace. It's just that the stripey background plays tricks on my eyes.

But it makes the colours stand out so nicely...

And are you talking about the white layout? 'Cause I think that looks shite.

youre right, cheap is the wrong word since its pretty crisp and clean. I just dont like black and gold. i wish the VI fixed theme had the top bar with all the FF categories like the black theme does.

Wrong. Any changes made to a parent style (which the default style is a parent of both other styles) are made automatically to any child styles. So it would actually be less effort to keep them all updated just by updating the default one.

Yes, but obviously the "parent style" wasn't updated with these features. But like I've said, very few people even care about that skin anyway so there's no need to change it now.

You have absolutely no taste if you think that ugly-ass default skin looks remotely as good as Mercurial Version Dark II. Heck, I don't think this site should include the default as an option, as we wouldn't want to potentially subject curious new members into having to struggle through the blue and white layout.

Regardless, it wouldn't be hard for the admins here to add the shoutbox on other skins, just copy and paste the template code in the right areas.

Which makes no sense, because it's easier to update one skin than two or three skins. But whatever, if it's not gonna happen, it's not gonna happen.

What can I say? In some things I'm a minimalist.
Typically though I tend to like dark styles, but I just don't much like the two dark ones this forum has.
