Well, I live in the UK so I was fortunate to get the chance to defeat them, and I did. Though I admit I was relying on Yojimbo a lot at the time, especially against Penance to make the battle so much shorter.

Who else here went against them or has any advice or views?

I still need to bwat Dark Yojimbo, he's the only one I have left over aswel (aside from Penace) He just annoys me too much because you have to fight him like 50 times -__-

I only relied on Yojimbo to beat the Magus Sisters though, and I cereated a seperate save file so I can go back and do them properly, I only wanted to see Penance aswel, if only I'd realised I hadn't beaten Yojimbo the required amount of times, I wouldnt have bothered -__-
 
Oh sorry, never knew about that topic. Its not in the first and only 2 pages though. So thats why I made the topic.

But yeah, like I said, I defeated them all and collected all the weapons and whatnot. But only due to me always buying the prima strategy guides, so I don't miss out on anything.

I used the guide aswel, otherwise I would have totally missed them or run into them unexpectadley, like I did with Dark Bahamut the first time I played, I didn't see that one coming, I got had off straight away taking 99.999 damage. I was like wtf pwn'd?! I came to the conclusion that that fucker would never be beaten.......it took me an age, then I knew Anima was next and was thinking oh hell, if Bahamut was hard this is gunna be imposssible but I beat her first time >_> Not that she was a walk in the park mind, but compared to the ebilness that was Bahamut I was like......wtf easy?!
 
Seriously, I can't see that topic listed in the two pages. Is it archived or something, but still appearing in the FFX board? :S

So I relied heavily on Yojimbo, and I was at a high level, I guess they had to make them a challenge no matter what levels or equipment you had. I did try to take them on and avoid using Zanmato, but like you said they were dealing 99,999 all the time!
 
You need to search threads from the beginning, its at the bottom of the list :monster:

I just did a load of training in the Omega ruins and the monster arena and made sure I had half decent armour, most of which I fluffed up because it's my second file but also theon that I have done all my shit on, so I'l just have to live with that

I think Dark Valefor was this first one I stumble across, by accident, and he handed me my arse aswel, the first time I beat him I thought I was great, I didn't half struggle, taotally had to rely on autolife/auto phoenix :wacky:
 
I did some detective work and found out why; I had my threads listed with those only in the last 45 days, so nows its fixed. I guess I'm use to most forums having all days by default.

IIRC, I beat Dark Valefor quite easily.

The first four Dark Aeon are rather easy, especially Dark Ixion (the first encounter). The most proficient armour I suggest is the following: Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Auto-Phoenix, Ribbon/Defense + 20%. You might wonder why I have not included Break HP Limit; the answer is simple, its cons outweights the pros. If you have over 9999 HP, yes, you'll probably survive more hits, but your Celestial weapons will lose thier proficiency - especially Tidus' and Wakka's. The more HP they have, the more damage they deal, and its vital to keep max HP for Blitz Ace and Atttack Reels.

For the first four Dark Aeons, use the above armour and have at least 180 defense. (Tanket provides the Defense Spheres) Quick Hit is a nessessity, as is Auto-Life. You'll need to block the Overdrives with an Aeon too.

For the other half of the Aeons....well, they're a whole different story...especially Bahamut. You'll need 230-255 strength, defense, accuracy and evasion. It's also useful to have at least 100 Luck otherwise you'll waste turns using Aim. Ribbon is needed for the latter half otherwise you'll end up nowhere just healing your status'.
 
I second Gabranths armour motion.

The only way I bet any of the dark aeons without using yojimbo(Which I considered cheating) was to use well set up armour and pumel them to death. It also helps having max stats.

Dark yojimbo is annoying but my advise is to endure and remember to summon before he uses zanmato.
 
Where are all the Dark Aeons anyways? I know Dark Ifrit is at Home. Dark Valefor is in Besaid. Dark Shiva is at Macalania. Where are the rest? (hehe, only beaten Dark Valefor). And should I customise my armors against instant death?
 
Locations of the Dark Aeons:
Dark Valefor - Besaid Village.
Dark Ifrit - Home/Sanubia Desert.
Dark Ixion - Thunder Plains (Fight him twice).
Dark Shiva - Macalania Temple.
Dark Bahamut - Where you fought Yunalesca.
Dark Yojimbo - Cavern Of The Stolen Fayth.
Dark Magus Sisters - Area between Mushroom Rock and Mi'hen Highroad.
Penance - Airship command.....although its in the Calm Lands.

Don't bother with Deathproof because the Dark Aeons pierce any protection against it. You'll find that there will be other status effects that could penetrate the corrosponding protection. The all round armour is: Defense +20%, Auto-Haste, Auto-Phoenix, Ribbon. Penance's armour will be different however.
 
I beat a few of them, but Yojimbo I never did. It's like impassable to do Zanmato 5 times in a row? :gasp:

I really want to fight penece with no Yojimbo! I've killed Dark Valefor, Ifrit and Shiva without Zanmoto. ^^ But the rest i dealt with Zanmoto. >_>

Using Zanmato to kill the dark Aeons is a $%&#$/ "#/()"@
For some reason they are "hard"....
The only one I got trouble with was with D. Magus Sisters and Penance(took me about 3 hours to beat him, arg)
 
I've only ever been able to beat the first 3 Aeons, i was too weak to beat the rest and couldn't be arsed to level up xD It took a few go's to defeat each one admittedly
