the only thing that drove me to post about this is that when i was reading it i was listening to another one bites the dust, and just as i'd finished reading it got to the line "how long can you stand the heat?" :wacky:

annnnnnnyway, what do you think of daft competitions like this? this particular one is/was obviously dangerous and the "sport" (if you can call it that) doesnt seem all that exciting...

discuss...if theres anything to be discussed :ahmed:

Sauna World Championships has to be the dumbest thing ive ever heard. "hey lets see who can sit in this hot box the longest." "Hey i want in!" i wonder if there is spectators, i feel even worse for them.

.....but a woman's Sauna World Championships might be entertaining... :hmmm:

OMFG, why would anyone want to do that?!!! Maybe it's just me, but sitting in an oven...sorry, a sauna for any length of time sounds like suicide. I hate extreme heat and have trouble in 90+ degree F days. I would last almost a second in one, but probably not even that long. This may sound insensitive, but I think they got what they deserve, only because it was a competition.

Wait - that was on since 1999? I'm just surprised that it's even lasted this long before it's been suspended. And no Finn thought about the many lethal implications behind competitions like this? I'm no scientific or health expert, but I can spot something like this in an instant. Where was the health and safety brigade in the last 11 years? I mean, temperatures like that are just inhospitable and enough to cook anyone alive.

I know Finland like many other countries enjoy hosting odd kinds of contests that we would raise an eyebrow at, and of course, they're entitled to, but this is just ridiculous.
