So what do you think of them? There's some pretty good covers out there I think. I heard The Pigeon Detectives on the radio the other day doing a cover of Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne, and it wasn't half bad. One of the best ones I've heard in a long time is Love Machine by Arctic Monkeys, originally by Girls Aloud.

There's some pretty good mixes too. One of the best I've heard is Wonderwall by Oasis with Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. I've also got a 15 minute drum n bass mix of When The Sun Goes Down and some Beasite Boys song that I can't name.

There's a recent mix of a RATM song floating about the radio that I quite like, it doesn't compare to the original though which isn't rare, most remixes are a disgrace to the originals, like that remix of "Another Brick In The Wall" which makes me cringe.

As for covers, Radio 1's Live Lounge is the place to go for that, I heard The Fray do a cover of "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira that really impressed me.

Yeah, Live Lounge is great for that stuff. There's always some idiot who spoils a good song on there though. I think I might download that discography actually. I want the Diamonds Are Forever cover by Arctic Monkeys.

I think I heard that song not long ago, Arctic Monkeys usually do a good cover version of something.

Another cover I like at the moment is Lily Allen's cover of that Kaiser Chiefs song...I've completely forgotten the name of it.

I don't mind it at all, I think Lily's got a decent voice actually.

The greatest cover of all time: Jimi Hendrix "All Along The Watchtower"

There are a few covers I like, like Muse's cover of Feeling Good and (probably best of all) Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah. A simply beautiful song. PJ Harvey does a nice version of Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited on her second album Rid of Me as well. Most cover versions are pretty lazy or ill-conceived though.

I don't know much about remixes, though I've been meaning for ages to listen to The Avalanches' remix of the Belle & Sebastian song I'm A Cuckoo. And Soulwax are pretty good remixers - check out their mix of Push It by Salt and Pepa with No Fun by The Stooges.

Great covers right there, Muse did a great job of "Feeling Good" and even though it's one for the bible bashers, "Halleluja" is a very well done song.

One of the best cover versions I've heard in the past year has got to be Maximo Park covering 500 Miles by The Proclaimors. Its how a cover should be done; They made the song there own and the alterations of the lyrics was a nice touch... I'd probably say I like there version better haha.

Oh and Pete Doherty covering Karma Cameleon.

As far as remixes go I always find it better to have a look for some electro mixes: Kissy Sell Out, CSS, Klaxons etc...

Hadoukens remix of Bloc Party - The Prayer is worth checking out too.
