A Swiss couple has come forward claiming to be the grandparents of a mysterious boy who turned up in Germany saying he had been living in a forest with his father for five years.
The English speaking teen made headlines after he emerged in Berlin on September 5 claiming he knew nothing about his true identity except that he was 17 years old and his name was Ray.
The boy claimed to have been living in the wild with his father Ryan since his mother died in a car accident (Read more: 'Forest boy' won't appeal for information).
The Swiss couple contacted police this week claiming to be related to the boy after they saw his photo in a newspaper and are due to give a DNA sample to prove their identity, Berlin's B.Z. newspaper reports.
Police and social workers recently started suspecting that he may be an illegal immigrant who concocted the story in order to stay in Germany, after he refused to make a public appeal for information on his identity.
The boy, who is currently being cared for by a social worker acting as his guardian, will be deported if he is found to have come from Switzerland.

I found this to be a rather odd story.
I mean, he was allegedly 12 when his father took him into the forest to live for the next five years. I don't understand how you can forget things like your last name and your birthdate. Just simple things that would have helped to identify him.
If it's true then I hope that the grandparents who have come forward are really his family.
If not, he's concocted a very good story to stay in the country if he is an illegal immigrant. >.<
