To first understand what combos are, you must first know that attack types affect certain of your stats until the end of the TURN AFTER THEY WERE USED. What this means is if you were to use an attack type multiple times in a row, you could add on the effects of an attack type multiple times in a row.
Here is an example turn sequence:
-Player =third move
-Monster
-Player = first move
-Dead Monster (skipped)
-Player = second move
In this situation, the player can attack three times in a row after the monster attacked. Lets say the player had 300 STR, a weapon with 250 STR, and an attack type that boosted his attack by 25%.
First move-550 total STR*125%=687 STR
Here's the interesting part. The effect of the combat skill continues on for another turn. What happens if he attacks again?
Second move-687 STR*125%=858 STR
And the third time...
Third move-858 STR*125%=1073 STR
Assuming that the player dual wields 250 STR swords, we come out with a three turn damage total like this-
Non-consecutive attack damage after three turns- 4122
Consecutive attack damage after three turns- 5216
That's a difference of over 1000 damage. Obviously, doing attacks in consecutive order makes a huge difference in attack damage. This was blazingly obvious today when my pet, using Master Claw, increased it's damage from 250 in the first hit of a combo to over 1400 by the third hit. Dark Strife can attest to this...
Any thoughts?
