Specifically, I cannot find how to get to chocograph 8 Faraway Lagoon, and 9 Abandoned Lagoon. I know basically where they are, what I cannot do is get to choco footprints that would link to the graphs! Does anyone know a good site that will tell me how exactly to get from the choco spot to the treasure? Thanks. PS all I have is a light blue choco, nothing better.

I'm not entirely sure here, but I think those ones need to be left until later on, when you have an airship. That way, you can get to previously un-accessible (sp?) areas where there are footprints to lead to the correct location. Or alternatively, wait until you have an ocean (dark blue) chocobo.
The main problem here is that I haven't played FFIX in a loooong time, so I don't know which chocographs we're talking about here, but I think I know which ones you're looking for. So the only help I can give is to do some other chocographs and try them again when you have an ocean chocobo.
Oh, and I have a tip for you. In case you didn't know, if you press Select on the chocograph then you'll get a second hint on the location.

I haven't played IX in a long time either, just re-started for fun and thought I'd hit the sidequests I missed before.
Yeah, I did get the little moogle hints by pressing "select". They don't help much, paricularly because like I said, the problem is I know the location, just not how to get the stinking choc TO the location. *sigh*
I ran around and did some more digging (both in the forest game and for treasure) and upgraded to a red chocobo. Now I am where the Faraway Lagoon is supposed to be and the chocobo says "Kweh?!" with the little exclamations points like he is slightly excited. He never says anything else. This is the treasure that is supposed to "feel quite far away if your chocobo isn't grown up, kupo."
My question is this--is the Faraway Lagoon actually in the water, or is it on the land? The pic the moogle gave me looks like it's in the water, but there's no beaches to get into the water from.

I love the Chocobo sidequests/minigames in FFIX! Progressing through the different colored, different abilitied Chocobo's is pretty cool, and you get some great rewards in later treasure chests. Stick with it!
Except of course, for the fact that a player's curiosity will lead them....inevitably to Ozma. One of the hardest optional bosses to beat, but I'm sure is quite rewarding to actually defeat.
And the chocobo side quests were really fun, as Busta said, it is rewarding.
I got a lot of stuff that were quite useful but I've forgotten them now, sadly.
