Cecil. Love him, hate him?

So, I've been hearing a lot about how much people hate cecil, but I actually like him. Discussion material? I think yes.
 
He can't land a HP attack and he is totally inferior to squall. But I like him as a character. He's rather wise and I like his soul shift. The power of light and darkness! He just isn't as strong to use though.

Simply one of the worst characters in the game, with currently the worst tournament record. Cecil really has nothing going on for him other than shift soul mind games. Dark flame however is a great move that can be used to distract the opponent in order to help you set your opponent up.
 
I disagree. But then again, I'm opposite of the popular belief. I think Cecil is an amazing character if you can use him correctly. I personally think that the worst character is Bartz. But that's a little off topic so, don't worry about replying to that.

This isnt about belief and what not, this is based on pure results on tournaments

saying hes good when used right would work for any character -_-

also, if not for that last line, I would have raged on and on about how Bartz completely rapes cecil on ground and air
 
Well, honestly any character is good depending on how you use them. So, maybe the facts say he's bad, but i don't think so. I actually do pretty well with him. Of course he's not the best in the game, but that doesn't make him bad.
 
no, its the fact that he has nothing good going on for him that makes him bad

yes any character can be good if you use them right, but even so some characters are worse than others, and cecil is one of them
 
Cecil isn't so bad, I suppose. I'm not an expert at controlling him, but I wouldn't call the guy the worst character there is. Some people are just more......in tune with Cecil than others. I think it all depends on the player.
 
I dont think that there is another character that fails at racking up brave while also being unable to land an hp attack easily
 
true. his brave attacks aren't all that great. and his paladin hp attacks aren't very accurate. which does make him sound very bad, but i do fairly well with him.

I think your only saying that because perhaps you haven't put in the time to master Cecil. I have a friend at my job who has owned me a few matches while we play on our breaks...I give him props on his usage of Cecil because he used on his moves well and had me guess...it was never a obvious moment...especially if I'm playing as Kuja. I don't think I could play as well as my friend but overall Cecil is a great character

Cecil has been one of my mains since the beginning =P

its because I took the time to train him that I can say that he simply is not good.

Once again, Cecil has nothing to differentiate himself from other characters, with average speed, damage output, a below average hp game, and an above average brave game.

BTW, kuja vs Cecil is a completely one sided matchup where Kuja is at a complete advantage. Maybe your friend is just more experienced

overall, cecil is still not good.....
 
Yeahh, I just played as him for a little while, and he is by far NOT the best, I see exactly where you're coming from. I guess it's been a while since I used him. But that's not to say I did horribly, just not as well as when I use some other characters.
 
Everyone masters a different character. I'm not that good with Cecil, but I don't hate him because of that. ^_^ The character I master is the first one I use, Cecil is one of the last characters I've ever used.

Yes, it's cool that he can shift to paladin and dark knight within a battle, but what bothers me is that he is, indeed, slow growing. He doesn't gain new attacks for quite a few levels, I'm just not that patient to train him for so long. =P In the original game, he's pretty awesome in my opinion, but in Dissidia, they've seem to tone him down a little. Just like KamiKazeKumo said, Cecil doesn't stand out from all the other characters, he is not exactly memorable and popular.
 
I've played with (And almost mastered) all characters in Dissidia. My only real annoyance with Cecil is the switching from DK to Paladin. Apart from that he's a fun character to play as.
 
I hte him the way he can just change forms is really annoying and he cant attack very far only in his good form
 
Well, from someone whose gone as far with Cecil as, well, anything else I've seen, I can honestly say that he's not the greatest. I play him because I like him, and I like using him, and he BRV rapes in EX mode. However, anyone who knows me can tell you that I'm not a great player. Ask them if I'm a great Cecil player, and some folks say that I am, but yet my tournament record is just terrible (I haven't won any matches with Cecil, just Firion.) All in all, he just doesn't have the potential that other characters do. He's got a slow learning curve, and he tops off quickly. I don't think he can ever be anything more than above average.
(But I still like him :busta:)
 
Yeah, I see how average he really is. Originally, (being when i first got the game) I thought, "omfggg, what an amazing character. THE BEST." but, now that I've branched out, I see how wrong i was.:-)
 
I think Cecil is a quite good character. I prefer using him as the Paladin as I like fast and aerial atacks.

Also, Dark Knight Cecil was poorly adapted to Dissidia. I mean, the mask is so diferent of what it was supposed to be in the original game (I think it was an eagle or sort of. in dissidia is like a demon)
 
well imo the game is very balanced combat for every character i think the only major drawbacks to some is how predictable ppl are with them and how much more complicated it is to use them effectively compared to others who are painfully straight forward and a boring play (cloud=block and punish) i dont think cecil is a bad character at all.
