I don't get it. for some STUPID reason I can't challnge Xu on the bridge. I have NEVER had this problem before, I defeated Joker before we crashed into FH then challenged Xu once it was all up and running again, but she wasn't having none of it. I decided to leave it abit and got on with the story.
Once I got the Ragnarok I decided I'd go back and try again, and now all she's waffling about is having a go in the Ragnarok! WHY IS SHE DOING THIS TO ME!!!!!!!!!! I can't even understand what I could have done wrong as I have beat all the members on all my previous playthroughs before

I had the same problem with certain CC group members. You couldn't challenge them to a card game. It was a while ago, I don't remember what I did to get them to challenge me. Maybe you have to challenge them in order...? o_O Well, never mind you have to challenge them in order.

Maybe this will help:
Also, you
need to have won about 15-20 card players before you can actually play
the members.

Before undertaking this
challange, you may want to complete the first five pages of cards
(excepting the PuPu card you can't get 'til disc three,)

There are also two more cards within Balamb Garden you can get; the young
boy in blue who runs around the Lobby has the Mini-Mog card, and Trepe
Groupie #3 in the classroom on the second floor has the Quistis card;
make sure to get those as well before beginning this quest.
NOTE: To be able to start this quest, you must have won several games in
Balamb Garden; I'm not sure of the exact number, but I think it's
around twenty to thirty.

It has been bugging me for days and no sooner did i do this thread than I decided to challenge a random guy on the second floor, it turns out I missed Spade.......Joker threw me off because I know that I have always challenged Xu after him.....I am such an idiot

Yeah, it's fine. I messed up a few times on the CC group quest. I'm glad FFVIII had a good card quest.
I'm wasn't surprised the King was Quistis.
:wacky:

Ugh I hated the Queen's card quest. It's lame you have to hand her a rare card for her to use her rare card. I waited until the end of disk three to challenge her. She's located very south of Esthar.

The card game was frustrating at times, mainly cause of the random rule, I mean you play to get one card and instead lose another, now you have to get both back :dry:>_< when I lost a third, it happened a few times, I usually restarted the game :dry:.

The randome rule didn';t bother me, I just refined all the crappy cards I had and the ones I couldn't refine I deliberatly lost when I didnt have the random rule so Id only really have decent cards. It's the plus rule that REALLY pisses me off
And also the fact that I STILL have NEVER had Irvines or Kiros cards

Yeah, I would define all of the low level cards as well. I hated that rule when you flip cards your keep them but whatever cards your opponent flipped over, they would keep those cards.

Irvine and Kiros you win from the Queen of Cards. You can still challenge her on disk 4.

Do you have too lose any cards in order top get them?? The stupid guide says to challenge other people entirely....I wondered why I could never get them.

No, you don't. You don't really need to do the Queen quest at all to get all of her cards. The Queen card quest is a shit quest, just ignore it until disk 4. Find the queen at the very south of Esthar, west of Tear's point. She's hidden so you have to run around that area until you find her. Irvine, Kiros, Phoenix, Doomtrain, and Cubby Chocobo is what she has.

Well, from what I remember, it’s impossible to screw the order up meaning each CC group member won’t challenge you unless you beat the CC member below him or her.

Now, you should be able to challenge Xu on the bridge, as that’s obviously the only place to find her in the garden. If you’re unable to, then you missed one of the lower CC members in the sidequest. As for challenging the CC King, you're not going to be able to find him or her and ask for a challenge directly...

If I remember correctly, once you beat Xu, she’ll tell you there's one more person to beat in the club. Next, talk with Nida flying the garden, then go down to the infirmary and challenge Dr. Kadowaki. Once you beat her, she'll tell you about the card King... then go to your dorm room and sleep. Once you wake up (assuming you beat all of the previous members),
Quistis
, the CC King will be standing in your dorm room decked out in his or her formal SeeD uniform directly challenging you for a game.

If the CC King doesn’t appear, then keep going to sleep and eventually he/she be standing there when you wake up.

Hope that helps! ^_^
