Multiple Platforms Capcom Announces StreetFighter IV

Out of the three you mentioned: Alpha Anthology easily gets my recommendation. EX3's playable but nothing special, wereas Fighting Evolution is one of the worst fighters I have ever played ( and I like Brutal and Shaq-fu! ). Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 and Pocket Fighter, which all come on the Anthology, are worth the entrance fee if you like Street Fighter at all.

Pretty sure if you've played the classic it's not much different than the ones that are out now. haha.

I'd say get a Marvel vs. Capcom game. THOSE are total fun.

Or SNK Vs. Capcom. That's fun too.

Interview with Ono on SFIV, pretty much him saying again how SFIV is a throwback to II since III is apparently a game for a exclusive club where if you don't know what you're doing you can't play it or something which is why they wish to distance themselves from it. Interestingly he ends it with saying that if/when there are console versions they may add Alpha/III characters like Sakura and Ibuki if demand is high enough.

I wasn't too sure of Abel at first ( looks a little bit bland to be honest ) but seeing his moves in action have me interested. A comboing grappler, just what the game needed! Although I don't think he'll quite reach the plateaux that Daimon has set for that type of character.

The only vid I've seen of Crimson Viper didn't really tell me much though, I'll have to look for more of her. The guy found one move ( the fire kick in the air ) and spammed it a bit, with a few pokes thrown in. Not exactly enough to judge a character on.

The design of Abel is pretty bland, sorta of my main problem with him. Viper looks to be an alright character although as you've said many good vids have been shown yet.

Any recommendations? I am also thinking of buying Street Fighter IV, of course, but for the meantime, I need a game to occupy me since I heard that the release is more than a year away...? Or am I wrong?

The Street Fighter Aniversary Collection would be the best thing. It has all or at least most of the versions of Street Fighter II as well as Street Fighter III: Third Strike which is the best game in the series. The Street Fighter Alpha Collection, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and Capcom Vs SNK 2 are also good to have.

Hrmm...So as of now there will be no Sakura or Dan? I love those two. haha.

All that i've seen confirmed are Chun-Li, Blanka, Dhaslem (sp?), Guile, Abel, Zangief, Ryu, and Ken.

Hrmm...I'd like to see Bison and Vega in here. In the first game these two were only bosses. Urgh.

Magneto?

Confirmed are the original 8 (Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Zangief, E Honda, Blanka and Guile) as well as Crimson Viper and Abel. I'd imagine that Akuma, Vega and Sagat would make it as well as well as the possiblity of Balrog although Dudley would be my preferred choice for the boxer role.

I'd argue that from the point of play-style, that Balrog and Dudley vary enough that they could both be included, one being a charge character with the other being a much more technical fighter, relying on tech moves and sways. But yeah, with both being boxers it's unlikely that it'd happen. Dudley would be my choice, but it is essentially an SFII fest, so in that respect Balrog seems a bit more likely if either were to make it.

Interestingly he ends it with saying that if/when there are console versions they may add Alpha/III characters like Sakura and Ibuki if demand is high enough.
Sadly I don't think there's much chance of him being convinced to include EX characters, is there? Garuda and Skullomania deserve more dammit! But that's pretty cool. My only worry is that some of the more interesting characters won't make a return, with them being over-shadowed by the safer choices. It was good to see Necro, Fei-Long and Dudley on Capcoms' poll, and even better that Dudley was winning when I last saw it, but I'm pretty sure that Sakura will take it eventually.

EDIT:
Just found these two videos this morning:

Two more old faces making a comeback, and finally some Zangief ownage. :D

I finally found the poll last week and voted for Dudley fgj. Don't really know if they'll actually do it if Dudley wins since as you've shown Balrog is actually in the game. I'm liking how Sagat is back though.

That's a vid showing Ken showing off his Ultra move which takes off a retarded amount of health. I imagine that it's going to be toned down and while I agree of trying to level the game out for people of lesser skill something like this is a bit too much for me personally.

Roflmao. I said Magneto, eh? I meant Bison. In my head I remembered the Red outfit and typed it out. Bah! haha.

I think they may have Vega and Bison as the last two bosses like in the Super Nintendo version.

I forgot all about Akuma. I would like to see Sakura and Dan. =/. I don't like E.Honda.

Do you think there will be any..special features like Tag Battles or something? I've always loved the tag battles where you can have double combo special attacks. <3. <3. </3.< p>

The Ken super in the video is.....shocking....

That was about 80% of his health gone, in a match with reasonably skilled people those things could well become abusable. Unless I'm missing something about how it fills up, but I assume it's that the super guage is full and the player is below a set amount of health as well.

If the guage also has a way of depleting then it might not be so broken.

Bison is dead for good this time, Akuma sent him into hell with Raging Demon in SFII so he should not appear again but considering what I've seen so far it wouldn't surprise me if he was back. Akuma would make an appearance as some as well. There won't be any gimmicks like Team Battles or whatever, SFIV is meant to be simple for anyone to play and will stay 1v1.

From what I've heard and bothered to read on SRK it works similar to the K-Groove in CvS2 (correct me if I'm wrong, I never used K) in which there's a separate bar that fills when you're getting your ass kicked with the difference being that when it's full you can use it anytime you want as it doesn't decrease.

Not sure what you input to actually pull off the move though I'd hope it's something that's nots that easy. The reason of putting this in is because Ono wants to make it a more even playing field between those of different skill levels. I understand where he's coming from but I personally won't like the chance of losing 80% of my health just because I'm doing well.

The new character looks alright I suppose, nicer than Abel and Viper but still doesn't appeal to me that much. Just looks washed up and a tad dull. I'm pretty peeved since a second wrestler will likely mean no Alex. Where's the SFIII love Capcom?

Completely ignore what I've said about Bison not appearing in the game for reasons of canon because he (and Vega) are both in SFIV.

Also Rufus, a character that looks so awful that he probably will prove to be awesome.

I've posted up so much info I've probably said it somewhere. It's released in the arcades this year and console ports the next. No systems have been confirmed although PS3 and 360 versions will most likely happen and I believe it's been said that they could potentially release it on the Wii.

Omega thread bump, and ignoring the god-awful news about M.Bison returning, an interesting little issue that seems to have cropped up in Street Fighter HD: Ken can juggle with two shoryukens, with no damage scaling occuring. So in three or four simple hits a player can be minus 50 - 60% of his health and be stunned ready for the finisher.

I can't seem to dig out the video at the moment, but rest assured, it wasn't pleasant viewing.

Lock up your children!

And booyah:

Urien with a Ying Yang sling makes his appearance as the boss of SFIV.

That Shoryuken thing was discovered during the Beta testing so hopefully they'll fix this before general release.

I'm happy that a Urien-type charcater is in the game although it is a bit of a shitty design, hopefully (and this is a very slim hope) that he won't be overpowered to the point that he's banned in tournies.

Also anyone in the UK or at least in the London area may be interested in seeing that SFIV and SFII: HD will be playable at a massive event on the 26th + 27th of July. Details on the site below.

Nice to see a UK based tournament on a decent scale, but ( ironically, considering the thread ) I think it's got Evo's problem of too much Street Fighter bias in it's line-up. A Guilty Gear or King Of Fighters thrown in would make a big difference for variety's sake. Although that's probably because Capcom's inactivity for so long has nudged me towards branching out to more fighting game series.

Still, hope it does well. Something similair in the north, even Newcastle or Manchester area, would be more ideal for me though. And on a side note, interesting to see that Evil Ryu and Riot Of The Blood Iori seem to be allowed in CVS2, making it a different set-up from Evo.

I'm half considering going to the event but for two small problems that I don't have an arcade stick apart from the big 2-Player X-Arcade set-up and the money it'll cost to get there. I'm looking into get the Hori sticks when I can find them in stock again since I had a shot of one a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome to use.

It's worth considering since the winners of each event will get sponsored to go to EVO at Vegas this year and you probably won't see an event this big in the UK very often, and we probably won't see SFIV for ages if at all. There are regular RANBATs in Manchester but they might not be held right now. I'll look into that.
