250,000 gil for WHAT? A lousy key item? It wasn't even worth the bollocks sky pirate den. It doesn't DO anything, I can't even give it away in the vain hope of something useful!

Did anyone else feel positively ripped off? It's a steep price for getting 100% completion. I just can't believe it doesn't DO anything :stare:
 
You'll get alot more Arcana's from foes with it, and some other rare drops.

As with all these treasure drop items, they are over priced. Save a fortune to buy an item that gets you higher value loot, which then isn't enough for you to buy the next one so you're back to saving again.
 
The main purpose of the Jar is to let you High Arcana more easily. Once you got the jar, rare monsters may sometimes drop High Arcana

Which is a pretty rare loot since you need it unlock some of the ultimate equipment from the Bazaar like the Tournesol for example.

The Canopic Jar is required for the Tournesol, and it makes it a lot easier to get an Arcana. Unless you want to dick around and kill rare game, hoping that one might drop an Arcana, this is a big help. Not sure, but I think it upgrades the Arcana dropped by rare game into a High Arcana.
 
Oh ok, now I feel abit stupid. It's still far to an expensive item though :grumpy:

I ended up getting this really early so most of the creatures I fought dropped High Arcana, which was really shittier than it sounds. When I was at lower levels, I had no use for High Arcana... and that's all I got. I remember warning Busta not to buy it until the end so he wouldn't max out with just one item.
 
Well, at least the Canopic Jar isn't a TOTAL waste of money... like that Bazar (sp?) thing that ended up being 99 fucking Pebbles. Seeing as how their monetary value is actually 188 Gil then it's a waste of 711 gil. Not too steep but you can't fucking use Pebbles. Whose brilliant idea was this?

If I was you I'd get all the monographs and the Canopic Jar as soon as you can since it lets a lot more better drops. Have fun taking to shops hundreds of times.
 
It's not absolutely nessessary in the creation of the Tournesol; as long as you take every opportunity to get the Serpentarias, Empereal Soul, Gemsteel and High Arcana, you should be able to create it without looting loads of monsters.
 
Whatever, I think that at the point of the game the canopic jar shows up most of the items in weapons shops/the Bazaar are fairly worthless anyway. All of the good weapons and armor have to be found/earned not bought, so cash isn't as important as loot. :\
 
Er some of the ultimate weapons can only unlocked through the Bazaar - you can't find them in chests or get them from drops or steals of monsters.

Durandal, Tournesol and Saggitarius are at least three Bazaar only weapons that I think of right now. You can't get them any other way expect for unlocking them from the Bazaar.
 
All I know is that to get it you sell Deimos Clay, Hoarkihty's flame, and Phobos Glaze.
It lets you get Arcanas which are essential for the Tournesoul.
