When this game comes out, I was considering getting it for both PS3 and PC (so I can play on PS3 at home, but play on my PC when I'm not at home). Will I be able to access my character on both the PS3 and PC versions, and play with players using a different version than me?

SE does not do that region server/platform server BS.

The PS3 players and the PC players will be able to play together. :)

FFXI allows PS2, 360 and PC players to play together as well.

Edit: Yeah your account will be usable by both. So long as you have the game files on both versions.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it now. I think I'll get the PS3 version first, and if they did a good job with it this time, I'll go ahead and buy the PC version.

Really?

I skipped out on FFXI and the disastrous launch of FFXIV but A Realm Reborn looks to shape things up and I've been wanting to get it. Problem is alot of my friends are PC gamers. This way I can play with them using the PS3 version. Good news indeed.

Let me put it like this..

SE likes to include everyone. They are probably the least hated gaming company in the world, but not the most liked either. The core of their work ethic has always been one of "everyone playing together". While they cannot do anything about the JP players refusing to play with others for whatever reasons those are, they do not wish, or perhaps not like the idea of separating by race or origin. IF they ever do this, it would only be because of a outrage from their primary user base.

SEGA used to be like this at one point, but they aren't any longer. Region separation is a bad business practice in my opinion, as the JP branch tends to not give a damn about other branches, but still retain the autonomous power over them all and being able to deny other branches certain content.
