Can anybody tell me the main differences between Ring of Fates and the original?

I'm kind of curious on how they changed the game. Anybody who has played both please post here.

I only played Crystal Chronicles, but from what I can tell, RoF has more backbone in the storyline. In CC, story was simple: "You take control of a Crystal Caravan going from one Myrhh Tree to another to collect myrhh needed to keep the Miasma at by for another year." The characters had no true identities or personality what-so-ever. In RoF, however, the characters have names, identities, and it has more story than CC. Of course from what I've heard, CC is better despite the lack of a solid storyline...

This is promising to hear, given that the addition of a good story makes me want to get this game even more.
