It's strange really, I find the boss battles on FFXII lengthy, not hard, the likes of Hell Wyrm, Yiazmat, Omega MK II etc. they don't feel like hard fights, just long ones.

With FFVII fighting the likes of Ruby and Emerald or FFX fighting the Dark Aeons, I found the fights quite difficult, and alot more intense. FFXII fights don't feel intense atall to me.

Anyone else think this? Or is it just my reaction to the battle system change?

yes

most of these bosses are rather easy in this one. i miss the challenge from bosses in ff X like sin overdrive and seymore so. yes you are not the only 1 :tidus: :woot:

Sin? Hard? Haha.

Anyways. Yeah, they were really easy, and they did get pretty time consuming, but, at the same time, they were fun, too.

U R right, but that's probably because of Gambits. I mean, you could literally have a coffee when I fought Hell Wyrm. 2 coffees for that matter.

i agree the second time i fought the hell wyrm was at 6PM so i left the PS2 on unpaused and came back about 25 minuits later and it was at like 1/3 HP.

the bosses in FFX really put the cherry on the cake especially shinryu i thought he was one of the best and yes i have beat penance.

The battles WERE quite long, actually. Some were hard for me...(Elder Wyrm). Ughhh. lol. But, yes, in XII it seems with the right gambits and armour you can go away and come back later and your foe could be defeated.

They were fun though! Like Behemuth (sp?) King...he was a long battle but it was super fun to do.

I have to agree to an extent. The battles were long. Having defeated all of the optional bosses of FFXII it would seem that with the right levels and a very basic strategy of healing, buff and attack gambits you could beat these bosses easily, including Yiazmat, Hell Wyrm, and Omega Mk. XII. Omega Mark XII is the worst offender in this respect because you could just decoy and reverse one character while the others attack and it'll be dead in a few minutes. Not to mention that some bosses used cheap tactics like immunity to magic or physical attacks for a time.

The battles were long, yes. But I still thought they were intense, mainly because I didn't let gambits do all the work. I can see how they would be boring if you let gambits do everything though x_x

I loved the game and stuff, but during boss battles I never got the feeling that I might lose. Only real pressure I felt was that Esper dude (can't spell his name) in the Waterway, because your HP is constantly falling, and just to be a bitch, he decides to add Sap & Poisen to you aswell added to the fact I was underlevelled lol. The Behemoth King fight got boring, attacking, switching to Scathe, back to attacking, got boring. I always command my battles aswell, never just leave my gambits to do their thing (admittedly only usually telling the party leader what to do and leaving the other two to their gambits)

I dunno, I think it may just be the battle system, it's not a case of "Oh he just killed one of my characters, so I need to use a phoenix down on my next turn, oh crap now he's killed a second guy, it's down to my last party member to revive both, so now I'm missing two attacks, leaving myself open to being beaten" Or "ok on this turn Yuna will use protect, Tidus will attack and Lulu will use Waterga" The intensity of having a set time to be able to do things in the fight made the fights harder for me, but being able to keep attacking at the same time of someone else healing, I dunno, just didn't feel pressured.

You're right, CuChulainn was harder than others, but there is a way to avoid the Elder Wyrm, you have to run through that really deep forest just outside Giruvegan, to the Rift. I fought it, and it makes sure that you are a higher than normal level. Great fight.

The bosses in ff12 were meant to be hard by being long but this never worked out. Most of the bosses in ff12 were easy as it just took patance.

Feywood? I'm on my way to Mt Bumisace (story) at the moment, and took a detour to the Feywood for some levelling up. Because I power levelled with Dustia at the beginning of the game, it's taking a while to level up at the moment, so just heading to stronger areas. Level 42 with everyone at the moment.

I might go to Nabreus soon, via Mospharian Highwaste/Silika Wood then through Nabudis (picking up the Zodiac Spear) for some levelling. After the Barheim key sidequest, you can just go to areas blocked off by the story, because the Estersand north bank takes you to the highwaste.

I'm not sure if I can be bothered right with all that right now though, might just carry on, fight Elder Wyrm and wait til I'm in the Silika Wood during the story.

Undecided right now.

You can't get to the beach place until you've done the shrine thing. You can go to the highwaste though. But get a chocobo at the city near Rabanastre and go towards the guards. You can get some good items later in the game if you do that.
