Oh damn, it's for Nintendo DS. Well looks pretty interesting anyways, i can feel that something cool is coming!

Darkwolf, I see your new here and this is your first post. As it is, I'll let it slide this time, but PLEASE read the site rules. We don't tolerate one-liner posts in our post count section. Thank you.

I was very disappointed when I found out what this game was going to be. When I first saw the countdown page for it, I was hoping it would be a remake of Bahamut Lagoon, or a sequel. But instead we get...well...pretty much what you said, FF summons mixed with Shadow of the Colossus. Real damn original there, SE.

The game also looks ugly...horribly ugly. I understand SE's decision to put it on the DS, obviously they want to make as much money as they can and on the DS it will sell better than on the PSP. But really, I would think a game like this would be better suited for the PSP. Fighting giant, horribly textured behemoths is just not very impressive at all, and the PSP's hardware could do something like this alot more justice. Hell, the sprites are completely flat, and you fight on 3D planes. Wtf. It just looks so unprofessional.

Gameplay video for those who want it, and to make my rant relavant:

Honestly I'm getting tired of Nintendo's subpar graphics. The "gameplay over graphics" philosophy can only go so far before you start to ask yourself if Nintendo is just being plain lazy by having such outdated hardware. I thought it was a terrible choice to put FF4 on the DS, because the awful graphics and chibi style really do not fit the characters or story at all...bleh. I'll stop ranting now.

All that being said though, the game could be pretty fun. The gameplay itself doesn't look half bad, and I rather like the artwork on that page you linked to. It's nice to see some characters from SE that aren't done by Nomura, I'm getting real tired of that guy's designs.

I don't know really. Large, horribly textured elements reminds me of a time when Final Fantasy was still good, as does the 2D sprites in 3D enviroments, so the nostalgia has kinda sold the graphics to me  I do agree that the concept isn't the most original though. The gameplay itself doesn't look half bad though, but I think I will reserve final judgement for the final product and just label it "interesting" for the time being.

Oh and I wouldn't miss Nomura one bit if Square fired him. The Kingdom Hearts franchise is abominable and he has been rehashing the same style of design since Final Fantasy X in all his games. Bring back Amano and let him do something apart from the logo. The character design in FF IX looked better than anything Nomura has ever done.
