Topic to discuss possibly the best UK comedy films ever. Brought to you by Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost of Spaced fame and it's all gold.

Shaun of the Dead
Released in 2004 this film was a homage to the zombie genre specifically the Romero films. This also had comedy and romantic elements and can be considered as the first Rom-Zom-Com.

Hot Fuzz
This was a homage to buddy action movies the same way that SotD was to zombie flicks but with that Pegg/Wright twist. Maybe not as great a film as SotD but probably the funnier of the two.

The World's End
The third film announced which will make up the trilogy. Not much is known at all about it except that it's to be released around 2010 and it will involve blood and a cornetto at some point.

I really enjoyed both films (and I love Spaced), especially considering before Shaun of the Dead I was worried that Simon Pegg might have overreached himself with the idea. But it was pretty enjoyable, though Shaun of the Dead suffered a little from the 'serious' bits which didn't really feel comfortable next to the comedy. Still a very good film.

Hot Fuzz is incredible funny and Timothy Dalton is especially good in it. I'm not a big fan of the type of films it often pays homage to but it's a gleefully barmy ride. I consider it a little better than Shaun of the Dead.

I love these films. I prefered Hot Fuzz to Shaun of the Dead, but both were hilarious. My favourite part of SotD was when they were whacking the zombies in time to Don't Stop Me Now. Whenever I listen to that song now I always think of that bit. :wacky:

Didn't know there was going to be a new one, it'll be a long two years...

I'd say Hot Fuzz was the better of the two too. Listening to Baby Fratelli just makes want to run through a village shooting the place up. :wacky:
Like Spaced, both films are just so quotable and are pretty much landmarks for British cinema.

The third film is news to me though, really excited about that now.
