FFIII:
~Ur is the town where the main characters came from. In the bible, Abram originated from Ur before moving to Canaan.
~Canaan is mentioned early in the game. Probably a future destination.

FFVII:
~The "Promised Land" that Shinra is restlessly searching for.

There is someone in the bible called Cain which Kain Highwind is named after. Cain's jealousy for his brother Abel is the same as Kain's jealousy for Cecil. In the GBA version of FFIV, Kain's final weapon is called "Abel's Lance".
 
Weird, my sisters pointed out that Seymour was sprawled out in a Jesus position when you first kill him in Macalania.. :[
 
I could definitely see the bible references in the series. I think there could also be some philosophy to be derived from them. For example, Mother could represent the desire for security and protection, as any human strives to aquire. But, that's just me. I could go deeper, but I won't.
