XBox Backward compatible?

I've heard that all you need to play regular XBox games on the 360 was a hard drive. HA! How naive of me to think that! I have GTA all ready to play and I can't. The only way I can get the update is to order it, but something was wrong with the site. I need some help!!!

Even with the update, many Xbox games aren't compatible with the Xbox 360.

A year or so ago, I updated my console by ordering a disk through Microsoft. Not sure if that's what you're trying to do...or if that's the best way of doing things.

Most of the regular Xbox games can be played on the 360. I know I've got the GTA trilogy and they all play, as well as post popular games such as the previous installments of Halo.

I'd say make sure you do some research if you want to buy an original Xbox game for your 360 in order for you not to waste money on something you might not be able to play.
