I read in this months EGM that sony will be removing backward compatibility chips from European PS3s. I was wondering if they were thinking of doing the same thing with future north american PS3s. This causes a major problem for me because Im still gonna play FF from the PS1 and PS2 for a very long time and i do not own a PS3. Sony will obviously stop making PS2s eventually and if PS3s wont be able to play my fav FF games, what will I do??

They removed the chip. This doesn't mean its not backwards compatible. It just means it doesn't use hardware compatibility anymore. Now it uses software emulation like Xbox 360 does. But PS3 has more compatible games already. There is a list of games out there if you want to check it out.

As said above, that doesn't mean that it wont be backwards compatible. I have been able to play ffxiii so far along with ix. dont have xii yet...im a recent newcomer to the ff games.

You're an asshole, you know that? Stealing my posts and making yourself seem smart. :P And I AM the one that added Busta into the group chat first the other day, jsut to let you know. haha

MR is right, btw. It's just that this way they can keep the vast majority of the games and lower the price of the overall package.

More of a Sony discussion than a FF discussion so I'm gonna move this.

Also, I think Symphaniz is referring to FFXII and it was a typo.
