No, I live in America. The rules for these things vary by district, even by school- I just find the Baltimore school system to be particularly bad. Go further down south, and I'm sure you won't have to deal with any of this.

I think a key point to consider here is the difference between 'atheism' and 'anti-theism'.
'Atheism' simply means 'without God'. It is a belief that God does not existence. Atheism, however, is still a religious position. If one truly did not believe in God, then there would be need to deny. Savvy?
'Anti-theism' is different. This means 'against God' or 'against religion'. And in some ways, from some people I've spoken to online, some anti-theists are worse than the truly fundamentalist Christians/Muslims/<INSERT name here religion>. It's fine to say you don't believe in God, no worries. I don't mind that. But just as, as has rightly been pointed out here, it is wrong to force religious beliefs onto someone, it is equally wrong to force anti-religious beliefs on to someone. An anti-theist may believe that we will all, one day, destroy ourselves because of some stupid wars between hardcore religious nutters. The world is likely to end in a similar fashion if equally hardcore anti-theist nutters try to oppress and cause violent conflict on those who hold religious beliefs.
See?
Moderation, as ever, is the key. You don't believe in God? Fine. You think religions are stupid? Fine. Just don't start forcing square pegs into round holes. You'll just destroy the entire box.
Quite so and sound wisdom. I have a really good friend of mine in Leeds who always takes the micky out of me for my spiritual beliefs and often questions me ... but that's fine! I don't mind that! It encourages me to answer difficult questions (he's an Astrophysicist ... very smart man!) and in doing so, I continue to learn. Hopefully, so does he. We've enjoyed some brilliant theological debates. Not at all (lets keep this thread open), I have found it very embarrassing to be with atheist friends who have hounded my other mates with religious beliefs.
Atheists can be as, if not more, dogmatic, its just based on strong feelings.
I myself am an atheist and I certainly do not believe I have to repect anybodys religion or opinion, but hey, what ever you do in your own time(as long as it does not hurt anyone) is fine by me.
I will not however actively seek out and attempt to destroy a persons beliefs, if you want to talk about them fine, if not, even better.

I am a Christian myself, and I agree with you.The typical Christian is a forceful and imposing brat. Most Christians have a case of the 'I'm Better Than You' syndrome... This is sad because all these people are hypocrites, because they seem to forget that one is not to cast the proverbial stone unless they are sinless, which is impossible to be.So personally I've come to the conclusion that it's really nobody's business what religion you are or what you believe (or don't believe) in. Christians, Catholics, and whatever don't need to force their beliefs on others (as they are infamous for doing, of course).
But then again, that same rule should apply for athiests.
If an athiest person doesn't believe in God, then that's fine. Who really cares? So what's the point in flaunting it off to everyone and being like "Oh I don't believe and you're stupid for believing"? They go on forums, talk smack about God infront of those who believe, which is pretty much the same on forcing their believes onto another person. Isn't that exactly the reason why they hate Christians/Catholics to begin with?
They might disagree and say "I'm just voicing my opinion!", which is good. But seriously, when they voice their opinion that passionately (or fanatically) to another character, what else could that possibly be?
Did anybody notice the same thing? Is anyone else annoyed by it?
personally, I think you're blowing the whole situation out of proportion. You see, I go to a Catholic school yet I am Atheist. =D
Anyways, as you might not know, I get ridiculed every day for being what I am. I mean, I am alone by believing in what I do. You do say that Atheist flaunt their believes to try and "covert" someone, yet in reality, they are merely trying to stand up for themselves. Sure, there are some people that go to forums and trash talk their by talking smack about god and whatnot, but I mean, there was probably a trigger for that. For every action, there is a reason.
Another thing, you form a thread about how Atheist are bad because they do such horrible acts, but in reality, you just persecuted everyone by creating this thread. YOU singled them out by what they do, yet in reality, there is people who are Catholics and Christians who do the same thing. There is a thread questioning if there is a God, yet they press everything and use theological references to further insure that if people don't believe, they should. If you haven't noticed, it's people such as yourselves that make them bad people through harassment. I don't mind, though. =D
A side note: The whole prospect of going to others to smack their beliefs in them is part of human nature. It's the simple concept of being better than everyone else.
