I've played FF IX several times, But I have no idea on how to get the Ark Summon. To be fair, I didn't really bother in the past because I was kind lazy back then and just couldn't be bothered. But I recently saw the Ark summoning animation and I was amazed, not only is it over- the-top, but it's extremely badass. So now I'm kind of curious, how do you get Ark ?:hmmm:It would be nice to have him on the squad.

 
You have to find the two pumice pieces. One can be found in disk 3 when you defeat Ark in a boss fight. The other can be found in chocobo hot n cold. It requires you going to the world map and digging up treasure.

After you find the two pieces you can forge them together in the Hades shop. Or you could skip all that and fight Ozma. I think you can even steal another piece of the pumice from his too.

Important note : Ark's spell power is equal to 106 plus the total number of Lapis Lazulis in the party's inventory.
 
How to get Pumice Pieces:

1. Defeat Ark at Oeilvert. Drop Item. Disc 3.
2. Find with the Chocograph #22 titled Outer Island 2. Disc 3 or 4.
3. Steal and Defeat Ozma. You can get 2 of them. Disc 3 or 4.
4. Synthesize a Pumice and a Hammer to make the Pumice Piece at the Hades synthesis shop. Disc 4.

I don't see why anyone would want to change a Pumice and a Hammer for a Pumice Piece. I guess the only reason is you have two pumice and no pieces and want that item.
 
I suggest using the chocograph method! It's worthwile (maybe..) to try and find all those treasures, and if you've gotten as far as to fight Ozma chances are you've already gotten treasure #22.

The whole Chocobo quest is quite rewarding if you finish the whole thing. And with youtube videos nowadays you don't ever really have to worry about finding some impossible spot.

Ark is one of the only Eidolons that's even worth using in that game.
 
You can steal a piece from Ozma and when you defeat him he will give you a whole piece. So you get a piece in the story when you fight Ark, and if you steal a piece from Ozma and defeat him you can have two pieces as long as you go to hades and have him synthesis you one.
 
You don't have to fight Ozma to get Ark.

You get one Pumice Piece from defeating Ark in Oeilvert.
You get another for a Chocograph reward.

In Memoria, you can ask Hades to synthesise them together to create Pumice.
Ark is learnt from Pumice. Only Garnet can learn Ark.
 
I recommend you don't fight Ark and do the alternative, some people can find him a toughy even harder than the final boss himself and it can be just general hassle doing it that way when you can do a lengthier option. It's my opinion :)
