Any reason to buy weapons for Edgar and Sabin?

I use Edgar's tools and Sabin's blitzes only with them, is there any reason to buy new weapons for them when the opportunity arises? Does their weapon affect how much damage Edgar does with his tools or Sabin with his blitzes?

I think it would have to matter, because you would think that the specials are multipliers of their attacks. Someone should test it, I would, but I have not current saved games. (currently playing IV)

I only ever used the tools for edgar aswel, I neverthought of not equipping weapons....I guess Id have to load an old file to see if there is a difference without as said above

I rarely used the blitz for sabin, i found he did decent ewnough damage with his regular attacks - that and I failekd at the commads anyway....

Just did a test with Sabin, does seem like his Blitz attack does go up
