So my XBOX Live expired today on my XBOX One. A few days ago I sold some DLC items like the AP+ accessories etc since im on my very last stretch of the game.

So I opened an old file save, not my main file save to see if I still had the items.. Hmm I don't think I actually sold them (I never would have usually, i'm an item collector). i sold the crap except rares etc and what I wanted, and this file doesn't have them also.. I know i had em then. Like 20 hours b4. Masamune etc..

When Live expires, so like does my DLC items also? It seems all of my files are affected, even old ones? haha thats a lame way to keep ppl buying live.

Everything is there, just not my special holiday/etc/Masamune etc items.

Yes, you need to be connected to the internet at all times for your save file to recognize any downloaded items. Otherwise, they'll still be on your file, but won't be seeable or usable.

Really? That's not the way it works on PS4. I just checked. I completely disconnected from the internet, and all of the DLC items were still there. After all, the DLC itself for XV was included in updates, with the purchases on the store being unlock keys. So everything is being stored locally on your system, and it shouldn't need the internet at all to access any of it. That's not how it works on any other single player game I know of either.

I don't think it's tied to Xbox Live Gold either. Why would you need Xbox Live Gold to use things you purchased independently of Gold? Even if you did need to connect to the internet to use the DLC, that would be some extraordinary bullshit if they could lock you out of content you purchased on your own because you don't have Gold.

Point is, while I don't know what the problem might be, I don't think it's related to being connected to the internet, or having/not having Gold. I've never heard of purely single player content being tied to having access to either; and that's coming from someone who hates how many more things Microsoft puts behind their paywall than Sony. I've never heard of them going that far.

EDIT: The only thing I can think of, is if you got that content for free because of a special Xbox Live Gold deal, and you don't get to keep it if your Gold runs out. But at least on PS4, people who stop paying for PS Plus get to keep all free content except for full games that were offered. GamerPics, Themes, DLC; you get to keep it all.

Yes, I unplugged wifi for the PS4 Pro before booting up the system. I uploaded my file with the bonus content, and none of it was present to the eye(e.g. the Choco-Mog Tee and Ragnarok). I shut the PS4 Pro off, plugged back in my wifi, and rebooted game. Before I hit the main menu, I got a message saying something along the lines of The bonus content has been unlocked. I will correct my prior mistake and say that you don't need to be connected to the internet the entire time the system is on, but long enough to boot up FFXV. I've done this multiple times in a row just to make sure it wasn't a glitch.

I did the same, and all my content was still there. Not to mention I was having huge internet issues all through January and February which prevented me from using online features for most things on my console anyway. Still no issues there either. Is there any chance that it could be an issue with what profile actually owns the content? After all, games and content can be shared between profiles, and they can even be shared between entirely different consoles. Same goes for Xbox One (through different means of course). Do you share content with anyone else, because that would lock out access to it if you disconnect from the internet; and I believe that even holds true if you're the original owner.

My profile files don't get shared with anybody, nor do I use my log-in on another person's system. I believe you when you say you're not getting the same results. This may be a situation similar to some people getting game breaking bugs in the past, while other people did not.

Hmm, that is really strange. I've tried to think of any other reason that might be the case, and I genuinely can't. Looking around just a bit, it seems this has been a bit of an issue for some other people as well. Interesting that you can actively get it to disappear by not connecting, because everywhere I looked that had people mentioning that specifically got responses about needing to use content on your primary account while online. Meanwhile, others have said that if that's not the problem, deleting and reinstalling everything could fix it. But I can't find any solid answers for why it might or might not show up when the account itself isn't the concern. As far as the free DLC and some of the pre-order stuff goes, it's not like it's a big deal I suppose, but it still bothers me that this isn't laid out more clearly.

So I just reactivated my GOLD, loaded up my XBOX One and loaded the game same results. Closed the game in XBOX Menu reopened and its like i rebought season pass etc.. Mass flow of received items log top of screen. Wieeerd.

I really wish I knew what caused that. I'm wondering if it's due to issues with the game occasionally being unable to contact Square's servers, to check if you own the content when you initially start it up. Maybe sometimes it just can't connect, but doesn't have an alert message programmed in to let you know. But again, that should mean disconnecting the internet would make the content disappear. Really confusing.

The only thing I can assume is that certain files are not saved on the hard drive, which would result in the possibility of the issue taking place.
