I recently bought a analog controller (FFXI's controls are kinda strange) for my computer and tried it out with a few games. I am not sure which I prefure to use now lol. So..what do you think is better? Using the analog controller, or using the keyboard controls?

I've played quite a few PC games and I've always been comfortable using the keyboard controls. I'm quite good when it comes to using the keyboards. I don't own any analog controller, but my friend has one so I've seen its capabilities. Still, keyboards for me.

Oh definitely not analog for me. I tried using one once and it only worked for driving games and flight simulators. But since I play mostly strategy games, I prefer keyboard more than the other.

Analog as in Xbox controller etc?
Keyboard with a mouse is a bit better than analogue, But without the mouse analog is miles ahead.

I mean the analog controllers that you plug into the computer.

So far, it depends on the game XD. RTS like Starcraft, I NEED the mouse. Games like Diablo 2, works like a charm. Shooters, I noticed I aim alot faster and more accurate, so I guess that's a win for analogs. I'm still unsure though.

Completely depends on the game, FPS, Adventure and RTS titles especially require a degree of control that analogs just don't give you so I favour the keyboard + mouse then. Most other genres I play are usually on consoles and usually are titles that are more suited for them so it's never really an issue, the only time I'd consider using a controller on a PC is for my emulators when playing old SNES titles and the like.

But on a PC keyboard and mouse all the way.

Hm... keyboard just because that's all Leki ever uses... Plus, if I wanted a controller game, I'd usually jsut get it for Ps2 or Gamecube, or the like...

Controllers that you plug into the computer? It'd depend on the type of game you're playing.

If you're playing a fast-paced shooting game, I'd stick with the keyboard/mouse combination. If you're playing an RPG, it might be easier to use a controller depending on how familiar you are with the control scheme.

For me, it's the keyboard, unless it's an action game, then I'll use the controller. But, the closest to action games I get too is KH, lol. But, usually the only games I play on my PC are shooting games, so, WASD + Mouse for me!

I never liked the analog. Besides, I'm way faster and more experienced with a keyboard :P

Analog is great for some games, but like some people have previously mentioned FPS NEEDS the keyboard and mouse. Playing a FPS with a controller is a handicap.

It depends on the game really, when I get FFXI soon (hopefully) I'll probably invest in an analog controller but I'd never dream of using one in a game such as Age of Empires.

Certain games just need a keyboard/mouse combination, but if I can get away with a controller then I'd use it, much prefer them to keyboards.

Well since its an mmo in question id go with the mouse and keyboard. Things seem to move faster like that compared to a controller.

Cant remember where i heard this but some university did a study on this subject. They had some 500 people play using analog controllers, then a mouse and key board on some FPS. The analog controllers dominated the short range combat. But sniping and long range combat was ruled by the mouse and keyboard.

im an rts player.. Hotkey is my middle name ... keyboard is my first analog cant get the job done for me
