An IRC Channel?

I know of some forums, including RPGF, that have there own IRC channel. IRC (Instant Relay Chat) is just a huge web-chat that lets people group together in one channel and discuss about anything of the like. I think this would be a great thing to have, especially for those who come on the forums late at night , wanting to chat. I know that we have a shoutbox, but think of this as a "super" shoutbox Anyhow, if you administrators think you would want to add this, PM me and I can start setting up our own little channel Also, any feedback is appreciated XD

the shoutbox is just a replacement for the chat rooms, which will be back shortly... so im guessing the chat rooms will be much better

Tidus Blade is right. The shoutbox, which has temporarily returned, is a substitution for the chat rooms, which are currently in development. We once had the use of IRC on FFF, but it was quickly removed when many members complained just how bad it really was. We've had our ups and downs with the shoutbox/chatrooms, but this time, when they come back, the chat rooms are going to be much better. Hopefully.

What's the point of an IRC channel anyway? Not many are familiar with mIRC and all, you know. And I know one another thing that none of the members in here actually knows how to setup and logon to a channel via mIRC/IRC, believe that.

Like I have said many times, that chat room will be the replacement for the shoutbox AND IRC as it was pretty famous back in the old days. Besides, if we ever wanted to use IRC, that means we'll have to look for a channel operator where they could provide and host the channel for us with one which even means we'll have to pay for that so nah, that wouldn't be a good idea for now, I think. Plus we are still a small community to have a IRC channel yet so not until it gets bigger and bigger.

I agree with Darkblade here.

An IRC channel would just be confusing I think. Most of the members wouldn't have a clue as to how to use it anyways.

The chat rooms with be a much better alternative. We just have to be a little patient here.

You wouldn't have to pay, Ian has a way around things, but I understand what you mean. I'll bring this up in the future if we do become 'huge' so to speak
