Hi guys!

I recently came across what Mexicos immigration laws were, and I was a bit baffled to say in the least. Here they are:

1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, and all government business will be conducted in our language.

2. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote, no matter how long they are here.

3. Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.

4. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, nor any other government assistance programs.

5. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

6. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed to own waterfront property. That property is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

7. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no "bad-mouthing" our president or his policies. If you do you will be sent home.

8. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.

These seem a bit...harsh when compared to U.S laws no? Its too my knowledge other countries around the world have similar laws.

So, do you guys think America is too catering to immigrants, or other countries are too mean to immigrants. All opinions welcome :).

Well the U.S. is comprised of an overwhelming amount of immigrants and descendants of immigrants. Plus the U.S. prides itself as an 'open' country, where people from all different corners of the globe can come and pursue their 'dreams'.
So no, it's not lax or too catering...that's just the way it is.

This is the country of the immigrants, by the immigrants, from the immigrants.

That's why I don't understand the whole 'white supremacy' thing. Kick everyone out and the U.S. goes to the crapper.

From what I know of US immigration laws they seem both harsh and ironic. Like Warbs said, America is a country of immigrants. These immigrants committed genocide because a white supremacist came up with a brilliant justification for it, "Manifest Destiny". So these immigrants murdered almost all native americans they could find, before stealing their land and giving them shitty little reservations. They also stole land from the mexicans/spanish.
After awhile the Senate decided that immigration levels could only be level to those of something like 1893.

How accurate are those Mexican laws? Because you don't hear of people being deported from Mexico for insulting their president very often.

Hmm... Source of these laws? It stinks of propaganda/misinterpretation to me =) A post on a forum isn't exactly a reputable source, and that poster doesn't say where he found the laws...

I had a feeling some witty person by the name of DECADO would bring this up. Luckily I thought ahead :).

Thats another forum though, Do you perchance have any proof in terms of a document on a mexican government site?

As you can see if you check that post, it only specifies certain articles... The ones it misses out are the ones i'm interested in seeing the content of =)

I can assure you Decado, that the original laws I originally posted are close enough to the real thing, I've heard radio talk-show hosts talk about them, of course In your mind without proper documentation I'm just blowing smoke >.>. Theres nothing wrong with wanting the facts straight from the right source, but perhaps you should consider looking up the laws yourself, in between schoolwork and sports, I dont have the time >.>.

Thanks for your response Katsky, I support most of the laws myself.
