Alien Life and Space exploration

There is life other than us in the universe, there has to be. But who says it HAS to be carbon based? We have no idea what is out there. We believe water is a key to life, not necessarily, perhaps some have evolved on worlds where liquid methane is the 'key', or even liquid oxygen....we just don't know. Scientists are only looking at planets that may have flowing water on them, in there lies the mistake. Life can come in all forms.

I heard a quote once, but can't remember who said it, and it sums the question of intelligent alien life nicely.....

"There is definative proof of intelligent life in the universe. They haven't tried to contact us."

You know i like to say every Story got his small truth.
Shure we are not along and shure there are some high possition people wo knows that well.
Why they are not telling us,well because they are stubid(friendy way).
But the question is would we maybe be afraid for knowing what and how would we reakt if we learn about it?
To be the only thing alive i universe its just to simple and as you now nothing is just that simple in life.
Maybe there will be the day we'll find out and maybe not.
I'd like to know, but i dont know how i woud reakt after knowing,i realy dont.

It's completely understandable, as I think I speak for everyone that we would all be shocked when the day comes we learn of life in space or some other revolutionary discovery such as that.
I would like to say it is an inevitability, but then again, I might be horrendously wrong. And if it does happen, I would hope that it would be in my lifetime, but how I react to it, only God knows.

I definitely think there's other intelligent life out there. The only problem is that time is relative, especially when you get towards the speed of light. I mean, some of the supernovae we see here on Earth actually happened millions of years ago. Even if we could contact them (or vice versa) I'd be interested in seeing how they were able to bridge the time-gap. LOL The person who sent the signal would be long dead (and perhaps the civilization wouldn't even exist) by the time the signal even reached us. :P

Here's the scary part: What does humanity do? We conquer. We find a new land & we begin to possess it. My assumption is that, for a time, humanity & an alien race could peacefully live with each other simply because we'd be fascinated by each other. However, it is inevitable that either race will want what the other has - land & the ability to spread the race & spread ideals. There will be war; it's inevitable.

Enough doomy doom. :P
