Algebra

yeah. and Trig comes next which is all about triangles. Here's a pointer. All triangles make a 180 degree line.
 
And all quadrilaterals have angles that add up to 360 degrees.

Calculus is...much later. No reason to get scared about it though. That's more like something you do at the end of high school or in university. I actually don't find it all that scary, despite what people say about it.
 
I hate Algebra. *kills it* No matter how many good teachers I have I just wanna go to sleep during it... well, not really. This year I pay more attention than ever because I don't want to be in Algebra still in 11th grade! I'm currently in 10th grade and that's the only class that I have "failed". I was homeschooling in 9th grade and I got lazy and didn't want to do my Algebra... I hated it... and really didn't get it. So I just gave up. What a waste, huh? I regret that decision, as I could have been in Geometry, which I hear is a much easier class... :cry2:

So I'm just mathematically challenged. *lazy* But I excel in all my other classes, so I really don't know what my problem is.
 
I didn't know it was possible to be in 10th grade and still in algebra. I'm in 8th and still in algerbra. Coulda been in geometry if I did homework.

A lot of kids are still in algebra in 10th grade, nothing wrong with that. Plus all schools use very different systems, so you can't really make a judgement based on that.

Do you go to an American school? You'll probably be in Algebra until 9th grade, then in 10th you'll do Geometry.
 
In my old school, they had geomatry at 7th or 8th grade 0.o
@Sephiroth: you probably didnt find calcuslus hard or scary because you know it....
 
Calculus isn't too scary or difficult....it's just gotten a bad reputation, lol.

Yeah, well calculus in a pretty different class by itself with its own set of rules, etc. A lot different from just basic algebra. I'm sure you won't have any problem with it TB.
 
Im sure I will, well I got other stuff to worry about, I breifly flicked through the later chapters of the book, theres geomatry, and some type of line graphs... 0.o
 
You don't need a calculator to do calculus. It's more like the how and why behind functions. As my calculus teacher from high school calls it, "Calculus is slope."

@Sephiroth: Then is calculus the thing with all those functions like SIN, COS, LOG, IN and TAR? Saw them on my calculator

Sine, Cosine, and Tangent are all trigonometric functions. Logarithms are the opposite of exponentiating. You will use SIN COS and TAN tons with trig., but also all of them you will encounter in calculus. Don't let them scare you if you don't know what they are yet, they are really quite simple once you learn.
 
I'm not quite sure about the line graphs.....it could be lots of things. You don't know anything more about them??
 
Sine and cosine are pretty much the same graphs, but shifted. They look like waves. The tangent graph looks kind of like the cubic function graph, but repeated.

Logarithms in calculus are not really all that difficult. In fact, the constant, e is derived from an approximation in calculus. It's related to the natural logarithm, LN.
 
I guess this has to do with Algebra since it's math. One of my friends got this formula from a guy called the human calculator. He was on the news and the reporter gave him a math problem off the top of her head and he solved it in about 3 seconds. Pretty amazing, huh? Here's one of the rules he knows:

Let's say we have this problem:

75 x
75

You'd take the first number on the bottom, which is 7. Then you'd multiply it times the next number (what's after 7? 8) so, then you go:

7 x 8 = 56

Then you take the second topc number and the second bottom numbers, which are both 5's and multiply them by eachother.

5 x 5 = 25

So you'll have these numbers:

7 x 8 = 56
5 x 5 = 25

Now you just combine the two numbers like so and get:

5625

And there you have it. Easy way of multiplying by 5's.
 
Thx for the method Tana, pretty easy, but those days are over, I can use a calculator now :p
Ill look more into the line graphs...
