Tough one, but with Seph's awesome swordsmanship I would have to vote him.

I have no doubt Sephiroth would beat Akuma, I just think Akuma would put up a hell of a fight.

That being said, if Sephiroth put up a pretty decent fight being only 1/3 of himself, then I'd have to say that Sephiroth would win.
Then again, I've always thought Street Fighter was boring.

Akuma would spam Ashura Senkuu, to evade most of the hits. He also has that Shun Goku Satsu technique.

SE already said that in AC, Sephiroth is in his most powerful form ever. He "ascended to a new and superior level of existence", or something like that.
Anyway, i vote in the guy with power enough to transform the planet in his vessel and move it across the universe.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but we've never seen Stop and Death outside of gameplay. We don't what it can affect and what it can't. There are some exceptions when it comes to gameplay feats such Mario and Viewtiful Joe, because that's all they have. They don't have anything in the way of the cutscene. Sephiroth, however, has feats outside of gameplay, and therefore, the cutscene feats take priority over the gameplay feats (Plus, I've never seen Sephy use Death or Stop in gameplay). That being said, I think Pre-Nibhilem vs. Akuma would a fairer fight.

But Materia and magic are part of the story. So, if a spell that knock someone unconscious in gameplay for example(like Death) is used in the story, are you saying that something completelly different could happen? From what we already saw in BC and the trailers of CC, all the spells in the story do exactly what they do in gameplay. If Sephiroth use Death, Akuma will fall unconscious because this is what the spell do.
And i'm almost sure that a Raven(of Avalanche) used Death spell(outside of gameplay) against some Shinra grunts, in BC. Try to guess what happened.
Didn't Jenova's body use it? I'm not sure.
But doesn't really matter, because in AC he have controll over the majority of the Lifestream, the source of all magic in FFVII. I really doubt he couldn't do that.
Its like i said before. Sephiroth is a guy with power over the source of all magic, can be stupidly fast(like Omega Weiss and Chaos Vincent that were fighting like the DBZ characters), can move a friggin planet across the universe, and many other things.
Post-Nibel Sephiroth is in a completely different league than Akuma.

Okay, Crystal, hypothetical question. If Sephiroth achieved his full potential, would he be a threat in other universes (Ex. Marvel, DC, etc.)? Just curious. Also, I'd give a slight edge to Akuma, I think he destroyed a island with his fist or something. PN (Pre-Nibilhim) Sephiroth, eh.... I don't remember him being THAT strong, other than defeating a full-grown dragon with his sword with ease. Though he has the speed advantage. I think.
