Aeris - Martyr or Victim?

As im sure you all know - Aeris gets killed by Sephiroth in order to save the Planet, so do you think she KNEW she was going to die and chose to die to save the planet, or do you think that she DIDNT know she was going to die and that she planned on living (with Cloud obviously :P)

Or do yout think that, Aeris would have willingly sacrificed herself to save the planet but didnt know she was going to die when she did.

It's been so long since I've seen that far into the game...

But I remember that scene pretty well, and I think that the look on her face showed that she knew that (at least) something bad was coming. I think that she chose to go without fighting...
 
I'm saying both. I don't think she intended to die so early but she knew she would have to make a sacrifice.
 
Martyr for my choice. She was the only one who had the ability to summon Holy and she put herself in a very vulnerable position as a target from those who opposed Cloud and Co.'s plans.

No doubt she was scared of what she knew was coming, but I have a feeling she would 99% of the time put others before herself.
 
She definately knew cause she decided to leave cloud alone and solve it on her own. She knew every possible danger that could come to her and the expression when she's about to die looks like it was ment to happen.
 
I say martyr because she knew, she was going to die. I don't think she was scared ether... Thats why I think she smiled at Cloud just before Sephiroth killed her.
I don't think she knew when or that it would be that soon... But she knew.
