Can anyone recommend some good tactics for me to beat this esper?

I've seen 2 guides that recommend fighting him at about level 40, but his Flash Arc does quite a bit of damage, as do the zombies, and only Balthier survives Thundaja.
Is Shell or Bubble a must for this fight?
If I am underleveled, this is not a problem. I defeat most hunts etc. before I'm supposedly leveled enough.
What gambits do you recommend?

I used gambits
ally: any -> raise
ally: hp -30% -> curaga
ally: any -> esuna
foe: nearest visible -> attack
and used Adrammelechs weakness in magick.
