Like the title says, it seems like a pretty ok time for teen and young adult moviegoers. Not only did we recently have The Hunger Games , with Catching Fire coming out later this year (at least according to IMDB) and then (Also according to IMDB) The Maze Runner coming out early next year, we also have another movie to which this thread is based around that will be coming out this summer (on my birthday (August 23rd :awesome: )), The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

For those of you unfamiliar with it. Here's the IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1538403/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I think this would be an alright movie (judging from the trailer) and if it gets enough good reception we may see the other 5 books (and possibly the sequels and prequels) also become movies. But we will have to see how it turns out, not just in the box office, but as a movie overall...

city of bones was being quite heavily advertised when the last twilight film was released, and i read the start of the first book then and literally couldn't make it past the first page. it's utter shite that screams of eary adolescent hipster. i'm disappointed that it has a decent cast like jared harris, lena headey and jonathan rhys meyers, and i'm very disappointed that this is what robert sheehan left misfits to do. i suppose if you're in your early teens then this will probably be entertaining, but anyone above the age of about 18 will likely not bother.

as for the hunger games, i didn't care all that much for it. i thought it was a decent film, but was a little poorly thought out and it didn't make me want to read the books. a few of my friends were very excited for it in the build up since they had read them, and loved the film so i suppose that might make a difference, but i have no inclination to bother.

oh there's also the host at the end of this month, which is based on another stephanie meyer novel. i haven't seen a trailer for it, but i don't have high expectations. the premise sounds like it could have been a good one, but it sounds like it takes the completely wrong angle, at least for my taste.
