Just thought I'd share this GREAT read with you all as my first post. Many of you may have read this already, but just incase you haven't...this is probably the most in-depth analysis of the plot in FFVIII. For me personally, it improved my love and understanding of the game and it's symbolism immensely. It really gets you thinking.

Explores many theories, most significantly:
- The nature of time in FFVIII (The section which discusses the innevitable rise of Ultimecia and how she would likely have had knowledge of her own fate is an interesting thought)
- Rinoa = Ultimecia (Disproven and NOT TRUE!! But something I think would have been a devastating yet perfect twist for this game.

It's a long, long, loooooong read. But if you get the time, it's a MUST!
 
Wow, i already knew most of that..... but i hadn't read that and did learn a few interesting things.
 
I pretty much knew most of that,but is did fill some plotholes for me

I never actually thought too much about Ultimecia's past and the like.
Simply considered her some kind of crazy evil sorceress who tries to destroy the world :devil:

The "Rinora = Ultimecia" theory was very interesting. I never actually thought about such a possibility. Even though it seems false anyway...
If it was true, then that'll be a very amazing twist. Mt favorite kind of twists.

Wow, I'm glad I checked this out. The stuff about time at the beginning of the guide was just fascinating and completely coincides with my own beliefs of how time works, though it was said with a damn good command of the English Language.

What I'm curious about is how many people who claim to have known everything in that FAQ before reading it actually thought about any of it before now, or just accepted it as their own thoughts upon reading. 'oh, I knew that' meaning of course that the ideas embodied within the FAQ made sense to them and that they already knew all of that, it didn't surprise them.

Surely I didn't think about much of it before now. I'm just not that much of a deep thinker when it comes to my entertainment. I don't much care to over-complicate any of it by trying to analyze it too much. But, I do enjoy reading what others put forward about it and debating about that. But, from what I'm reading of this, there's very little to actually argue about. It's clear, concise and very logical. There is barely any opinion stated in it, and those who worked on the project tried as hard as possible to keep it clean of opinions and assumptions.

To say the least, I respect the people who wrote this a lot. For one, because they had to know a lot about time and the theories therein, and for two, because they were able to present it in the manner that they did, albeit for a video game which has little actual reward, but an outstanding effort nonetheless.

This is a must-read for any FFVIII fan, though. It matches the sophistication of the game and I believe that anyone who appreciates FFVIII would definitely be able to appreciate this FAQ.
 
For you guys to be able to come up with such a FAQ, you must be really deep thinkers... I wish I'm more like you. Although time the subject I'm most interested i, I didn't know most of what you've written in the FAQ. It helped me understand more about time, and made me appreciate the game more. It was a long read though, but all worth it. +respect :)
 
i knew a few things about the storyline of final fantasy 8 but that (although quite a difficult read for me being dyslexic and there being alot of long words lol) was really very eye opening for me thankyou :)
 
Yeah, really. Thanks for the link, it really filled in a few things for me. Might even have to replay through to see it all unfold :D
