I'm starting this because I was in a bad mood today. So I looked through my games and I see Virtua Fighter 4:Evo. I throw it in, picked my 8th Dan Vanessa who was my best character when I used to play and I start. The first few matches I get my a** handed to me. Finally, I got demoted to 7th Dan. Now normally, I would of quit but I decided to start a new character so I started from scratch with Lion. It starts pretty easy and I'm now a 3rd Dan. I remember why this game is so great. Cause you actually improve and learn the game unlike other 3D fighters.

Anywho, this was going to be just a Virtua Fighter thread, but I decided to open it up to all 3d fighters.

So what's your favorite series?
You favorite character?
Any good stories?
Joystick vs controller?

Favorite Series
-I also have Virtual Fighter 4: Evolution, its one of my favorites. My other favorites are Soul Caliber and Dead or Alive. I like Soul Caliber because of the fun weapons combat and I like Dead or Alive because of all of the counters you can do plus, I like knocking other fighters off of buildings.
I like VF4 for the realistic combat.

Good Stories
-I remember in Soul Caliber I was fighting a really hard character and I couldn't win for some reason. Then, after losing so many matches, the computer character ended up jumping out of the ring on its own.

Joystick vs. Controller
-I prefer to use a controller because I use the d-pad to control the characters.

As I only own as ps1, I don't have a whole lot of experience with fighting games like this besides Diablo(great game, Amazon, FTW!!!!) and Mechwarriors (eck). I tried S.C. but didn't gel with it very well. ("stop talking U tard and attack!!!" I was having problems with that game, XD)

Favorite Series:
But my one friend brought over his PS2 all the time, and as a result, I now truly love the Samurai Warriors series. Very much. I love what they say before and after the muso attack. (I can tell you just about every single one, XD. Go ahead, ask me what one char says, and I'll probably be able to tell ya) My fav chars are (I can't spell thier names for the life of me, so bear with me if i get them wrong) Ginchiyo and Hideyoshi. (I think i got the names right! :woot:)

Story:
Ok, during a 2 player game: We're trying to level this one char up, so how it usually goes, is that I take the low-level char and my friend takes a high-level char, to make sure i don't get slaughtered. At the last boss-battle, My friend would position his char on top of a large rock and watch the battle between me and the boss. On time, some random NPC fighter runs up to him, and stabs at him. Then my friend said, "Bitch! Get off my spot!" and attacks and just b-slaps the guy off the rock. It was the funniest thing ever. Good times.

I now truly love the Samurai Warriors series
Awesome! Wouldn't call them fighting games as such ( I tend to think of fighting games as one-one-one or tag, S.W. reminds me of Golden Axe and the like more ) but they're great games none the less.

Anyways:
So what's your favorite series?
My favourite 3D fighter is probably Tekken, but I'm quite fond of Virtua Fighter as well, and don't forget Bloody Roar! If I had to give a small rundown of 3d fighters;
1. Tekken
2. Virtua Fighter
3. Bloody Roar
4. King Of Fighters: Maximum Impact - broken as hell but great for a laugh.
5. Tobal
6. Dead Or Alive
7. Soul Calibur - If they'd left it at Soul Blade I'd have ranked it much higher....
8. 3D Mortal Kombat

You favorite character?
For each series:
Tekken - Raven, large variety of good ( and stylish! ) moves. Love that 3rd costume as well.

Virtua Fighter - Goh and Wolf are the ones I use mostly, but having played my friends' V.F.5 I have to say El Blaze ( or El Bras if you listen to the Japanese commercials...) is a load of fun to play.

Bloody Roar - Long! Complex chaining system for the win! Hell, he even had a zanretsuken attack.

KOF: MI - Nagase, an otaku ninja with a c.d. player in her glove who pays homage to Hattori Hanzo from Samurai Spirits, how can you go wrong?

Tobal - Gren was the only character I could use decently in that game so it would have to be him.

Dead Or Alive - Leon was fun for the bone breaking/skull bashing element. I tend to enjoy grapplers in fighting games.

Soul Calibur - Probably Kilik and Raphael. Yes, I am cheap in Soul Calibur.

Mortal Kombat - I actually liked the designs for most of the new characters in deadly Alliance, just a pity I didn't like the game so much. If I had to pick one probably Nitara.

Joystick vs controller?
I tend to play 2D fighters mostly, and I suck at doing fireballs with a stick so I'm more comfortable with controllers. I haven't really experimented with an arcade stick with 3d fighters.
