In Dragon Quest X, Ogleed is the land of ogres, one of the game's primary tribes. Square Enix's latest screenshot update for the game provided a tour of some of the Ogleed hotspots, including the northernly Langao Region which is covered in snow throughout the year, the Lagi Snow Fields (showing a conspicuous hut in the middle of nowhere), and Landon Mountain Range which is located in the south.

For a full (Japanese) description of the various locations shown in the screens, visit 4Gamer.
You'll encounter some unique Ogleed residents on your travels, including Marine the Sage, and Juliante, a mysterious demon.

[30/05] Starting Off With Dragon Quest X

For this week's update on Dragon Quest X, Square Enix gave us a brief preview of what it will be like to start off with the game.

You'll want to make sure you have a copy of DQX and a USB memory card. Your play experience will be more convenient if you have a Classic Controller Pro and a USB Keyboard too.
Once you have your gear assembled, you'll want to connect your USB memory card to your Wii and put in the disc. The game disc will install DQX to the USB memory card. This means that you'll be able to boot up the game from USB by selecting the DQX Channel.
After starting up the game, you'll first want to create your character and your sibling (you'll recall that Square Enix revealed a few months back that you also create a sibling character).

Your adventure starts off in Etene Village. Things apparently jump into high gear quickly as the village is threatened by an approaching calamity.

One thing leads to another, and you end up heading to a mysterious shrine where some shocking developments... develop! (You'll have to play the game for specifics).

One thing leads to another, and you for some reason have to create another character for your adventure in the main world. While your initial character and sibling were human, the character you create in this phase is one of the five races/tribes we've detailed in past updates. You also select a job for your new character.

After creating your new character, you're able to head off into the network world, meaning you can play with other players via the internet. Depending on the race of the character you create, you'll start off in a different part of the world. Each race has a different starting story too.

You'll need an internet connection to experience the full game world outside of Etene Village. This doesn't mean that you have to play multiplayer, though -- Square Enix notes that you can experience the game's massive online world on your own, or you can team up with friends to take on tough enemies.

It turns out that there is a bit more to the game even when playing offline. You'll be able to enjoy a bit of the story in offline mode, focusing specifically on you and your sibling's life in Etene Village. We'll get details on this area of the game in a future update.

[31/05] Hori's Dragon Quest X Keyboard is Covered in Slime

Old time gamers may remember the ridiculous Slime-themed Dual Shock 2 controller that Hori released opposite Dragon Quest VIII back in 2004. Hori is back in 2012 with another Slime-themed peripheral, this time for Dragon Quest X.

The Dragon Quest Slime Keyboard has actual Slime figures covering its top function keys. The 12 figures can be removed.
DQ fans may notice some other DQ themes on the keyboard, including the use of DQ-style Roman numerals for the number pad, and dot fonts for other keys.
The keyboard will be released opposite DQX on August 2, priced ¥3,980. Buyers will receive an item code for downloading an item that increases your character's experience and gold for a period.
