As previously believed, Square-Enix is working on a second ReMIX for the Kingdom Hearts series. The second, 2.5, also features 3 games, this time consisting of Kingdom Hearts 2, Birth by Sleep, and HD remastered cutscenes from Re:Coded. Both of the playable games are their Japan-exclusive Final Mix versions, making their way to the US for the first time. While a bit far fetched, this could mean Kingdom Hearts III is planned to release in 2015, since 1.5 released this year and 2.5 is set to release next year.

Thanks to all of your support, Kingdom Hearts has sold more than 20 million units worldwide! In celebration of this, and with absolute pleasure, we’re proud to announce that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will launch globally in 2014!
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is the follow-up compilation to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, and will be available exclusively on PS3. It will include the following goodies:

  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix — previously on PS2 and exclusive to Japan
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix — previously on PSP and exclusive to Japan
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD remastered cinematics)

I’m so excited to be able to see all of these games included as a part of this compilation, but personally, the most exciting title may be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. As many may not have been able to experience its awesomeness, it’s truly one of the more phenomenal games, and now completely rebuilt in HD — you’ll be able to play it on your big-screen TV for the first time.
Lastly, if you didn’t already pick it up, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is available for purchase, now. You might even be able to find the super rare, limited edition that contains the artbook.
We truly hope you all enjoy this announcement… and if you want to talk Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, or just anything Kingdom Hearts, leave us a comment.

SHUT UP! Stop making 2.5 stuff and finish FF15 already. -_-

I think it's important they get 2.5 out of the way as soon as possible so they can focus on FF XV and KH III. Once this is done, the team only has to worry about those two.

I totally agree with you, I can't wait for XV either. :gasp:

LOL! I just meant that they should stop it with all the side games and work on the ones that ACTUALLY matter...like FF15. Glad we agree on that!

About time.

I think SE finally realised that they neglected the Kingdom Hearts series. They released spin-offs that contained nothing, re-releases of spin-offs, prequels and sequels on different platforms, re-released half of them more than once with varying levels of extra content to the point where even the most devout fan of the series (me) hugely lost track of what I was meant to play if I wanted to know more about the story.

With this move, they've tried to round up all of the pieces and put every player back on a level playing field, giving everyone all of the story in one place, ahead of the release of what we know to be the end of the Xehanort Saga. The only thing we're missing, suspiciously, is Dream Drop Distance - arguably one of the more important games inaccessible to the vast majority of fans. I predict yet another announcement of a DDD re-relase before the year ends.

I was never a fan of stretching the KH Universe as thinly as they did but I am ecstatic that they've finally decided to at least ATTEMPT to prevent me from having to buy 6 different consoles just to finish what we started in 2003.
