At this point in the life cycle of the PS3 I would say Square would probably wait until the next PlayStation. Especially due to the recent rumors of the new XBox in either 2012 or 2014. That way a 20th Anniversary remake could be released in 2017

You are right on with regards to screen size; One of the problems now is that TVs are so much larger than they use to be. How many 40"+ TVs were sold before 2000 compared to after 2005? A 34" CRT is massive by CRT standards and a comparably sized 32" flat panel is considered to be smaller.

I just beat the game. Of all the Final Fantasy games I've played through this one is truly amazing and that is saying something.

Out of what I've played I'd say either FF VI or FF VII is a great starting place.
