There have been rumors about FF V and FF VI being remade for the 3DS. The 3DS did start selling slow, but now sales are sky-high. Would you want either of these games remade on the 3DS?

At this point in the life cycle of the PS3 I would say Square would probably wait until the next PlayStation. Especially due to the recent rumors of the new XBox in either 2012 or 2014. That way a 20th Anniversary remake could be released in 2017
I am still near the beginning of the game; I just received the job classes from the Water crystal so I'm trying to plan them carefully.
Any hints? Is the game long enough to fully develop jobs without major level grinding?

You are right on with regards to screen size; One of the problems now is that TVs are so much larger than they use to be. How many 40"+ TVs were sold before 2000 compared to after 2005? A 34" CRT is massive by CRT standards and a comparably sized 32" flat panel is considered to be smaller.
With the exception of the newest Final Fantasy games (FF X-to-FF XIV) and FF III the others have the option of being played either on a TV via a console or on a handheld.
I know this is an incomplete list but just for example

After beating FF IV I've decided to take a break and give a Dragon Quest game a try. It's fun, definitely different. I know this is a Final Fantasy forum so please don't ban me for treason :o
