Love VII, VIII and X
Need to play IX again, and XII for the first time.
Of the ones that I've played - VIII is the best for me. Preferred the storyline, preferred the characters, loved the soundtrack, and liked the little innovations (draw, junctioning etc).
XI - seriously, someone voted...
Currently on disc 2 of FFVIII - just left the Centra Ruins and arrived at Balamb again.
First time I've played any of the 'classic' FF games since I've played XIII, and now I remember what a FF game should be all about.
Still don't 'despise' XIII, but it's not a patch on the older games.
Love FFVIII, love anime - the prospect of an anime version of FFVIII - mouthwatering.
As mentioned above though, as much as we might want it, never going to happen. If it ain't VII, then Square don't really wanna know.

Personally, I didn't think that anything would top VII, and then VIII went and proved me wrong with the very next release.
The step up in graphics, the lovely sound-track, personally I adored the characters, the scope of the story, the in-game innovations like 'draw' and 'junctioning', along...
Shiva for me. Love the whole animated sequence of the Shiva summons, plus you have her right from the get-go, plus Shiva's usually my favourite in all FF games!
