I think it made it more fun as you had to think about wether or not to use items now that you might need later and you couldn't rely on other characters to heal so if you wanted to survive you had to balance it out. Although you can just make most materia give you hp 999%.

Did you notice that Tseng asked for Zack to be kept alive but despite this when Zack is weakened and on the ground the Shin-ra soldier shoots him in the head to finish him off. It strikes me that there may be some corruption in the Shin-ra troops. Or maybe they had no idea of Tsengs orders.

Yes there is in mission 3-1-3 if you hug the wall instead of fighting the G blader(I think its a G blader) and go down the left path then you initiate a fight with it but its terribly weak. I think it is partly Angeals death and partly the mako and s cells he absorbs after the fight with sephiroth. And the fact he meets aeris and feels love. And wants to act more mature.

Why do you think that the DMW keeps freezing up and Zack keeps losing his memory? Is it Him going delirious with the pain or him dieing. Or is it Him getting worn down by the battle.

I use Squall, Zell, Riona. Although Zells limit sucks if your quick you can make good use of it and Squll Has lionheart. Need I say more.
